    Default A hand and mental problems!

    First up. I've been a little aggressive, raised a few hands and taken them down with C bets. Table quite tight. Not really sure about Villain yet. Villain limps then calls my raise. This makes me think a medium pair. On the flop he check raises so what could he have? Pocket nine's are winning and AK or AQ or A9. Or god help me Q9. QQ+ would probably raise pf.
    For some reason when I'm on the end of very big bets I always think I'm being bluffed, this may be a habit I need to break I thought for ages then folded. What do you lot reckon? Did I bet too much on the flop? The board was 3 way and a bit drawy so I wanted to take it down or charge to draw.

    Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A, J. SB posts a blind of 15.
    1 fold, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises 70 to 100, 4 folds, BB calls, UTG+1 calls.

    Flop: 9, A, Q (3 players)
    BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets 300, BB folds, UTG+1 raises 810 to 1110, Hero folds.

    Final Pot:

    I busted out to him 4 hands later with K9 in the BB against K4 in the SB for him, King on the flop then I didn't belive his turn check raise when a 4 came and made him 2 pair because of this hand. Tilting eh? It's tricky because you need to use reads, but they have to be genuine reads, and someone can get good hands against you several times in a row. I keep getting it wrong at the moment

    Sure looks like 99 or maybe A9s.

    Raise to 150 pre-flop, I generally do 4xBB at 30. Your 100 bet isn't scaring anyone away, just bloating the pot. Or just fold, that's not terrible. Now he would have no fold equity with his push post-flop.

    I would think fold > raise > call

    As played I call the push, although I probably loose.
    Behind: AA, QQ, 99, AQ+, A9
    Ahead: A2s-A8s, AT, KK, TT, 22-88

    That range is wide, but
    Code:
    Board: 9d Ah Qs
    Dead:

            	equity (%)  	win (%)	tie (%)
    Hand  1:	46.9066 %  	39.80% 	07.11%      { AdJs }
    Hand  2:	53.0934 %  	45.98% 	07.11%      { 99+, A9s+, A9o+ }
    You're getting 800:1700 => 1:2.1, you're getting pretty good odds to call.

    I'm assuming this is a $10

    we cant assume TT&JJ would c/r here though it dont matter since odds are good and many aces could do this

    Yeah damn. I didn't know what to do so I should have gone with the odds but I have all this be tight early never call an all in with less than 2 pair etc ringing in my head. My game is in a slump at the moment. Ah well I'm only a noob, more experience will hopefully let me make better descisions if I keep trying to think about hands in the right way.

    Thanks guys

    This needs some ICM.

    - If Hero folds he has 1185 chips worth 9.23% of the pot
    - If Hero calls and wins he has 3270 chips worth 21.99% of the pot
    - If Hero calls and loses he is out.

    Therefore, 9.23% = x * 21.99% where x is the probability of winning the hand. Solving for x, x needs to be at least 42% for this to be a +EV call.

    I guess the next question is to put UTG+1 on a range. The question is, what hands call preflop but then C-R AI on a draw-free board like that? At a $5.50 you can NOT necessarily assume that QQ and AA will re-raise preflop, and I would include A2+ as well (although weaker aces will usually just flat call the flop bet).

    I've excluded pocket pairs that didn't hit a set but they're not out of the question, so the range is:

    Code:
    Board: 9d Ah Qs
    Dead:

            	equity (%)  	win (%)	tie (%)
    Hand  1:	41.2332 %  	31.68% 	09.55%      { AA, QQ, 99, A2s+, A2o+ }
    Hand  2:	58.7668 %  	49.22% 	09.55%      { AJo }
    Since Hero is almost 59% to win and only needs to be 42% to be +EV, I would call here. I would need a very solid read that opp would only C-R with better than top pair (maybe including AK) to fold this.

    dont worry about it, experience will come. can be tough at start coz you have so many concepts involved in any given hand that you dont know whcih are more important than others.
