Default Super short stack in the BB, idiotic or inspired move? ($16)

I was going to make a LC joke post about this guy folding when 80% of his stack was in the pot already, but as I was writing it I wondered whether folding here might be a possible play after all. If he calls, he's in a 3-way pot when I pushed from UTG when he's likely AI this hand anyway (so obviously showing great strength) and Button called, showing that he has a hand too. Does he fold and hope that I go out giving him 3rd (and no better), or does he call with any two cards when he's likely a huge underdog and likely to go out 4th anyway?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    Hero (t2640)
    Button (t6566)
    SB (t3483)
BB (t811) - 161 chips behind after posting blinds and antes

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, A.
Hero raises to t2590, Button calls t2590, SB folds, BB folds.

I dont think it is a terrible fold, it gives him a decent chance to get ITM, if he has a shitty hand it is probably EV+

BTW button flips 99, I'm cursing because I was convinced BB would call with ATC meaning that at worst I go out 3rd provided that shorty doesn't win AND I lose the side pot to Button.

I dont think you are folding AK if you raised preflop instead of pushing and got pushed over by the button.
I think your push was correct

Oh, I'm not worried about my push, I think it was hugely +EV. Was just wondering about BB's fold. I would have felt like an idiot (but confident that I made the right move) if Button had won the flip and BB makes it ITM with 161 chips left.

    if he calls
    Him winning and button winning
    he ITM
    Him winning and taipan winning
he probably still doesnt make the money but at least now he has more chips
    Button winning
    hes OTM
    taip winning
    hes OTM

    if he folds
    Button winning
    He ITM
    Taip winning
    He probably OTM

this is a good fold by him. with his stack this is such a great oppurtunity to make the money. he only has a little over 1bb to start the hand if he can just make the money thats great he doesnt have to play to win here.

i like the fold by the BB even though I would have been cursing him if I was in your position. If I was in his position I would have called for sure - but that may have been the wrong play.

Can someone do some Maths to work out if BB made a good fold or not. I don't have Pokerstove.

I remember one time where I folded in the BB even though the BB was one third of my stack and next hand I folded the SB which left me with half my stack from 2 hands earlier. I did this because it meant moving up the payout ladder, but I wasn't sure if it was the correct move or not. Maybe I should have moved allin and gone for the win. I'll have to post the exact details in a new thread some other time.
