Typical rule is play for up to 10% of the smaller of you and your opponent's stack. You'll hit your set about 12% of the time, so if you can stack them, this is profitable.

In SnGs, it's probably a touch more difficult to stack opps, so I wouldn't rely on this. Plus break even cEV moves are usually -$EV in SnGs, because just surviving is +$EV, and doubling up doesn't double your expectation.

In general, I'll do up to 10% in a multiway pot or up to 7% or so in general.
    I run a training site...

    Ok cheers.

So if I can see a flop for less than 10% of my stack I should call?

Make sure it is also 10% of your opponents stack. Your "effective stack size" is the smaller of yours and villains because you can't win more than that.

Not exactly. If you can see a flop for less than 10% or yours OR your opponents stack, whichever is less, you are getting close to the right odds to play.

I.E. You have 1600 chips, button has 1000 chips.
Blinds 25/50. You limp in from MP, the button raises to 200.

While calling the raise is less than 10% of your stack, it is well over 10% of opp's stack, so if you hit your set you can't get paid off enough to make up for the times when you don't hit.
