Default KTo in BB, 3 limpers, flop 9K5, bet 3/4 pot, 1 call - turn?

def77 has limped pretty much every time he's played preflop, except for a tiny 1.5xBB raise early on when he had QQ. He's probably slightly loose, although hasn't played too many hands.

    Do I push here?

You have 435 behind and the pot is 500. Shove the turn.

Thanks, but should I be worried about him having a set or a better king since he always limps pre-flop, or is it too unlikely to worry about or not worth worrying about because of my stack size?

You'll never know this. The problem is that with your stack size he may well pay you off with a worse king which would be great. You'll see a flush draw calling your flop bet very often here too.

If the turn had been an A or a spade then there might be a case for check/folding the turn but the 4h can't have helped his hand unless he has 44, shove.

Cool, I thought I played it right, but since I'm having bit of a bad run I have to verify moves like this just to make sure it wasn't a dumb move.

    BTW he had AK

    forget 3/4 on the flop
    i just shove the flop.

600 behind, and 200 in the pot?
    Easy shove...

Thanks vqc, I didn't think of that. How high would your stack need to be to just bet the flop instead of pushing it?

    800 is my guess
its kinda an arbitrary number tho.

im sure there is some kind of ratio between pot and stack size where shoving is just plain better. Above that ratio it really desont matter.

I open shove flop. I don't think any other option is very good.

    Cool, thanks.

I'm not sure that open-shoving the flop is much better than betting if you're committed to the pot. Does anyone honestly think a better hand (K9+) is folding to a shove? I think you can bet to extract some value on the flop from worse hands and then shove the turn to lay down the hammer. In the end, I think this makes more for you when you have the best hand.

Thanks Jeffrey, that sounds like a fair point.
