    Default 9s utg

is my play here okay? Still basically a full table so i don't want to commit to much to this hand utg. I gave up on the hand once my cbet was called. Didnt feel comfortable rasing with this utg, ideally looking for set or ragged board.

Check behind on the flop. If opp checks again, take a stab on the turn.

BTW your flop bet wasn't a c-bet - a c-bet is if you raised preflop, miss the flop but bet anyway.

Stand corrected. Was the limp utg okay?

Absolutely, at this stage I'm not raising this from UTG.

Why does everyone advocate limping UTG? What's the plan for the inevitable raise?

Well, I normally play $10sngs, so there is a fair share of limping. I don't like limping utg, but considering I have a plausible chance of not getting re-rerasied, Im gonna give it a shot. If i do get rasied, depending on the amount, then Im may call and look to hit a set. Better off then investing money in a raise and then face the prospect of calling a reraise oop. I may consider otherwise if the table has been aggressive preflop, and just fold preflop but that was not the case at this table. The blinds were @ 30/60 with like 9 people still left to act. And in this particular case I was not raised preflop.

Would you advocate rasing utg, and possibly pushing over a rerasie, or folding? (depending on the opponent and reads)
    Also,
by rasing utg, i give myself a chance to pick up the blinds, instead of giving the BB a free pass?

It's early. Limited or no reads. You're out of position.

Whether or not you call a raise depends on who makes the raise, your odds to call, the other people in the pot, etc etc.

99 is a nice hand, but the position is not nice here. Position is very important, more important than a lot of people realize.

It's not to say that it's wrong to raise it here, if that's what you want to do. I might do so depending on the situation and on the table. In a STT though, the first goal is to get to the bubble with as many chips as possible, and raising 99 UTG early with no reads isn't the best way to do this.
