    Default Battle of big stacks

$5 rebuy at Stars 23 left, I am chip leader and the opponent seems to be a very good tournament player over the 100 or so hands I've played with him. He raises alot preflop but doesn't call much preflop.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t16000 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB (t68532)
    BB (t513952)
    Hero (t556927)
    UTG+1 (t533977)
    MP1 (t203814)
    MP2 (t157476)
    CO (t124308)
    Button (t277306)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8, 8.
Hero raises to t48000, 6 folds, BB calls t32000.

    Flop: (t85600) 4, 3, 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t64000, BB calls t64000.

    Turn: (t213600) 5 (2 players)
    BB checks, Hero...?

Not a nice spot to be in

I don't see too many hands that call the flop bet that you're beating
And the turn card is a nightmare.

I look to check it down and fold to any aggression

And yet he called, both PFR and c-bet. I sometimes play this way with high PP (AA, KK, QQ) to mix it up a little in position and induce bets (bluffs) from worse hands. If that's his hand now the problem arises: to bluff scare turn or not? You raised pre-flop so ace is a likely holding, but if he has AA then F..K. I dunno. I'd probably let it go.

Check behind on the turn, and check/fold the river... maybe call the river if it is a very small bet. better spots then this for sure

is he ever calling wuth a hand you beat?
i guess he might fold 99-JJ, but i think he raises flop to protect against overs.

still, it would be wierd to check behind if you actually had the ace.... so you might face a river bet you cannot call.

check behind, c/f flop. conserve those chips, you have better places to get your chips in.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

the more I look at this, you have to assume he either called with Ax looking to move you off on turn or pair, a PP just doesn't make sense unless it's a set. Maybe he folds a set if you fire two barrells (probably), but I don't want to find out.

I do think bluffing the turn is better than calling on river.

I like a 140k turn bet. He can't call without an Ace and I don't think he's got one.

That's what I did (144k) and he called then insta-pushed the river and this hand really cost me the tourney and I ended up getting 17th.

In that case, you should have folded preflop.

that kind of thinking will make you give up MTTs. You are a long way from winning here.

nh. Given turn call river push feels like 66 to me.

My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.
