Gambling for Implied Odds

Brand spanking new here, so hey, hope you are all doing great!

This is a hand that was taken from my blog of late. I like to think it is an interesting hand and im curious of others thought process.

I hope im able to just cut and paste from my blog entry, im new to forums so i might be a bit rule-defiant for a week or so

Hero (CO): $495.81
Dealt to Hero: 4c-7c

I’m on the CO in this hand and I like to see flops with this type of hand in un-raised pots.

Villain (BB): $440.77
Villain raises $8 more and makes $10

Normally I would throw this hand away, after not being able to see a cheap flop. However the villain in this hand overplays top pair tremendously, and has got it all in three times against two pair only to spike a second pair on the river and end up with a deep stack.

So basically I am hoping to hit a big flop with the prospect of doubling my stack.

MP limper (No information on MP, new to table) calls the extra $8 and so do I.

Flop: Qh-4h-8c (Pot: $32.00)

Villain (BB): $430.77
Villain bets $26.00

MP Folds

From previous experience in this hand, I have seen my opponent check/call down top set twice and bet strong with an over pair. So the minimum hand I give my opponent is QK/AQ, and most likely KK/AA, I don’t think he would bet QQQ so strongly.

I believe my implied odds are as large as his stack if I am able to hit two pair or trips on the turn, and believe the gambling aspect of calling $26 with only bottom pair is justified.

Hero calls $26.00

Turn: Qh-4h-8c-7s (Pot: $84.00)

Villain bets $75, Hero raises to $225, Villain raises $179.99 and is all-in, Hero calls $179.99

Villain shows: Ac-Ah (One Pair, Aces)
Hero shows: 4c-7c (Two Pair, Fours & Sevens)

Hero wins $891.54 from the main pot.

If you are absolutely, positively sure he will stack off top pair unimproved if you hit, then yes this is a good long term play.

I usually would open up with this type of hand. I have a wider range of opening hands then most players, besides 'Gabe' from his hand histories!

However i do like mixing up my game and be a little unpredictable.

On a second however, i was eating my dinner and was just being lazy!

If you are playing against a guy who likes to stack off with weakish hands in unraised pots then there is no need to build a pot when you are behind.

I dont like openlimping preflop in the CO - I would raise or fold from the cutoff (raising partly to steal the button). As played the preflop call of the raise is fine in position 200bbs deep. The flop call really comes down to math - what are the chances he stacks off + the chance of you hitting one of your 5 outs on the turn (or river) + the chance of him hving holding ace-high now and being beat by you already on the flop + the chance of you bluffing him when a scarecard (heart) falls on the turn.
I'm not really down with the math of all this, so I cant really give you a perfect answer. But I can't say I hate the flop call. Turn is as it should be with your read on him.
