Default check-raising AXX and KXX flops

This question might be way too opponent-dependent but what the hell, I'll ask it anyway. If a solid regular raises from late position and you call in the blinds, how often are you check-raising a KXX or AXX flop with air? If it's just a random regular whom I don't have a ton of history with, I do it maybe 10% of the time. Too often / not often enough?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    UTG ($220.70)
    MP ($468.65)
    Button ($230)
    Hero ($201)
    BB ($197.35)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4, 4.
1 fold, MP raises to $8, 1 fold, Hero calls $7, 1 fold.

    Flop: ($18) A, 8, 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $12, Hero raises to $36

I'm doing it a lot more than I used to, which was never. Usually, I'll consider giving it a go if I read that villain's bet size is weaker than usual and he folds to aggression.

If I think villian has air also - I lead with the plan to fire a 2nd barrel to rep the pairing the high card. Check-raising gets expensive oop real fast and I prefer to achieve my goal here as cheaply as possible.

I also feel checkraising reps 2 pair or better. Problem is that I feel its non-standard to c-r the flop - most players with a real hand would wait until the turn - so it may smell fishy to the villian if he did indeed pair his high card. I know it would smell fishy to me.

I think bluffs work better when they look identical to standard plays

    uhhhhhhh, I disagree.

In fact, for the average weak-tight set camping nit, I think it's pretty standard.

    Ace games are fun.

Although, I think leading out for $15 has better balance.
