From UTG on a full table, limp preflop and play for set or (more carefully) overpair value on the flop.

Thanks guys. Say I limped like you say taipan, would I usually fold it to a 3xBB raise? By the way i think I recall harrington saying to raise this from early to limit the field in his book. Is that advice more related to the higher limit games or would you not advise it any limit?

That advice is great for live games and MTTs. In low limit SNGs people raise and stay in with crap, especially at the start. When the blinds are up and theres a couple of people or more out. RAISE away.

As played: cbet this flop. you are getting preflop calls from KQ, KJ, QJ, JT, KT 22+ and many more. He may not have the ace and if he doesn't he's going away now. If he does you'll find out.
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

Since this is level I of the blinds, a 3xBB raise would give you great implied odds to play for set value.

If this was say level IV or higher, the blinds would be around 50/100, and, depending on chip stacks, a 3xBB raise would not give you implied odds to play for set value.

Dan Harrington states that in middle to late stages, where the blinds are a lot higher in relation to chipstacks, pocket pairs start to lose their implied odds, and you must play them for face value.

It would not give you implied odds to play for set value, no, but TT is a good made hand and this + fold equity makes it often worth re-raising/pushing with.

Ok thanks. I bet 120 on the flop, checked a 4 on the turn and and called 100 when a 2 hit on the river, and he showed a pair of threes for a straight.
