Default I think I made a mess of this

Holdem No Limit - $40 BB

    MP+1 ($1,980)
    MP+2 ($160)
    CO ($2,480)
    Button ($1,920)
    SB ($1,920) [Hero]
    BB ($1,840)
    UTG ($1,840)
    UTG+1 ($5,860)

Hero is SB with J, A
    Preflop: (8 players, $60)
UTG calls 40, 2 folds, MP+2 calls 40, 2 folds, Hero calls 20, BB checks

    Flop: K, 6, A (4 players, $160)
Hero bets 160, BB folds, UTG calls 160, MP+2 folds

    Turn: J (2 players, $480)
Hero checks, UTG bets 40, Hero calls 40

    River: 5 (2 players, $560)
    Hero checks, UTG checks

    Results: Hero has J, A
Hero wins $560 with Two Pair: Aces and Jacks

Should I have gotten more out of this? I'm particularly interested in the turn.

i like a check raise on the turn. If he limped with AK then he is a tit. If he has a flush he'll let you know.
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

its okay, scare cadr for you on turn. his minbet is weird tho its probably weak.

    check river fine

Raising for information = very bad

I'm still playing this tourney and he just showed down a hand where he did this bent min raise on all streets with a straight draw so what the hell did he have here? Weak K?

doesnt matter this is info after the fact. Its would be a RR on turn then if you knew at the time.

Ginger, i dont understand your lime on turn. how will he tell you he has a flush by betting if your gonna c/r him anyway.

No im raising to define my hand.
1.You might take down the hand right now
    2. He may reraise you big in which case you expect a flush
3.He may call and you can check/call the river expecting Ax or a badly played flush.

Do you not think calling a minbet and checking a hand down with two pair will lose you money in the long run?

I mean he bets you reraise, then if he has the flush he's gonna reraise big or push. (He may call in which case see what happens on the river.)

Its not his first bet that defines his hand as we expect him to bet anyway having showed weakness. Do we learn anything/define our hand by just calling?

No Ginger, while I don't think it will maximise my winnings, I think this line will actually minimise my losses. Your line is crazy.

Well i agree with that. Certainly not betting minimises the amount you COULD lose. Monsters under the bed poker. Maybe im just a little too aggressive at the moment.

It's not aggression, it's just spewing.

I would have raised preflop, say 160-200 to go. From OOP I either want to take down the blinds or get HU postflop.

The hand plays differently if you had raised preflop but as played flop is fine. I think I would have led for about 300 on the turn - sure, it's a scare card but it may well be one for opp too.

On the river, I would have bet 1/2 pot or so. It's rare that opps at this level will check the river with a hand that beats top two pair IMO.

I think when that turn comes I want to keep my opponnent in the hand so I don't want to raise him off or be raised off myself because if he has a flush and I make a boat on the river then he's toast! Hands weaker than a flush I'm probably beating anyway. So yeah I like the check call.
Must get more aggressive - Tonight we dine in $25NL! rah rah rah! etc

Being oop sucks here. But I would have bet either the turn or river.
