Betting the flop is a mistake.
This is a bad flop for your hand given the preflop action (I would expect the small blind to be a fish who is cold-calling with some weakish ace high hand before the flop), and it should become clear on later streets whether or not you're beat. There's no reason to charge yourself a near pot-sized amount for information that you should be able to get more cheaply on later streets. You also avoid getting check-raised, which might allow you to spike a miracle Q and win a big pot against trip aces.
