flop min bets

    Default flop min bets

I have been seeing these a lot lately at my 50NL tables, where someone will make a min bet on the flop, followed by a pot-sized bet on the turn. I believe that most of the time they have next-to-nothing, and would like to take their money for making such a transparent play.

I basically have 2 options for doing this, I can raise the flop bet, and have them fold (or call then fold the turn). alternatively, I can call the flop bet and raise their pot-sized turn bet, thereby taking more money from them.

The second way has the obvious disadvantage of being higher variance because it involves a much larger bluff on my part.

Any thoughts on which way would be the best 'standard' way to deal with these situations, absent a read of course.

Treat them like a check with a little extra information. Don't fold any hand that isn't hopeless, play back a little and use the cheap cards.

Usually it's something like middle or bottom pair. Sometimes it's someone getting cute with something stronger. Contrary to popular opinion it's almost never a draw, people play those faster.
