My thoughts. Taipan, I promise this is new.

Red means I think I played poorly.
Olive means I'm not sure how I played.
Green means I think I played well.

Hand 1 [6s 6d] - In retrospect I feel that this early in a tournament and from this position, pocket pairs under JJ should be folded. I am beginning to get the idea that limping PP for set value is -EV in SnGs, but it's just a gut feeling.

Hand 2 [Jc Tc] - I feel ok with the PF check, but I think I should have bet 1/2 pot on the flop.

Hand 3 [7c 2h] - This is really just me being cute and playing The Hammer.

Hand 4 [5h 5d] - Should have folded PF. Since I did not, I should have folded to the raise. Since I did not, I should have raised on the flop to 175.

Hand 8 [Jc Jh] - Feel fine with the call PF and the call on the flop. I should have bet the river. For him to run that strong the whole hand and then stop is just stupid, but I was scared by the AK on the board.

Hand 9 [6h 6c] - Raised on the flop because I stopped respecting the play of A,Bloomfield. With five people left a pair like 6s seems better, but I'm still not sure what to do with it from what position I guess. In MP like I was here a call seems to be giving value away.

Hand 13 [Kh Ad] - PF fine. On the flop I should have made the raise to 400 I think. I don't know if that would have taken it down or not, but it would have been a better play I feel. After that, I'm not sure what I should have done. If he hung on to the turn then I have to bet big which has the same result as me calling the river bet.

Hand 18 [4h 4d] - Push

Hand 19 [Ks Ts] - I really don't know. I'd like to hear thoughts on this one for sure.

Hand 20 [Qs Ac] - Think this is pretty standard.

Hand 24 [Kc 3s] - I bet b/c everyone else was so tight. I'm thinking this would have been a better move on the turn.

Hand 26 [Qs 6c] - I was trying to steal. OOP for it and no reason to at M=14.

[Qs Ah] BU (M=8.69; r+F) - Push

[9h Qh] SB (M=8.00; f+f+F) - Push

Hand 28 [Qc 8h] - Attempted blind steal. I think this was correct from end to end.

Hand 31 [9h 9s] - Right move that worked out perfect.

Hand 32 [2h Kd] - It was a push.

1. 66 - standard limp with pocket pairs. You have huge implied odds here if you hit your set. I would even call a raise of up to 100 chips here. Just remember - this early, set or forget.

2. JTs - I think you played this fine. I would not have bet the flop against 3 opps with middle pair and a gutshot.

3. 72o - bit risky this early, although you did it in good position. Say you get called by the BB, miss the flop, BB checks, are you c-betting? You can burn a lot more chips than just your initial 120 raise here!

4. 55 - limp preflop and call a raise up to 90. I agree with your assessment, you should have raised his flop bet, you win it very often. As played, you absolutely have to call his donkminbets. What an idiot to donkminbet to the river with bottom pair and nothing else!

8. JJ - raise the flop. You flopped a full house, but don't let any overcards come and draw out on you. There is 625 in the pot when it gets to you, raise to 550 or so. As played, your turn and river play are fine, there's a risk that opp has an A or K here.

9. 66 - I would raise this one preflop, 150 to go. Sets you up to take the pot away on the flop with a c-bet or c-raise. As played, I like your raise with your read on opp.

10. Q7o - I would have checked the flop and bet the turn if both opps checked. Also, don't overbet the pot, it looks more like a bluff than a standard 100-120 bet.

[Kh Qd] UTG (M=16.83; F) - raise this 5-handed with your stack size, 300 to go.

[3s Ah] SB (M=15.17; f+f+f+F) - definite steal raise here

13. AKo - preflop is fine, but I would raise it up much bigger on the flop. There is 775 in the pot when it gets to you, make it at least 600 to go and call any push. You DON'T want to give anybody with a lone broadway card the chance to draw out on you. As played, once the J comes I think check/calling is fine.

15. A8s - standard.

17. 84s - I would fold this preflop even getting 7:1 assuming the BB doesn't raise, your chips are becoming increasingly precious as blinds go up. As played, bet a little less on the flop, 300 is fine, if opp pushes over you can save yourself 100 chips. Gutsy turn play, not sure whether I like it or not but it worked for you.

18. 44 - I would not push this preflop, checking is fine. I would take a stab on the turn for 200-250 though after opp checked and you checked behind.

19. KTs - fold preflop. KT is very easily dominated, even if you hit your K you may be outkicked by AK, KQ and KJ. As played, Ax has to be within opp's minraising range, when the A comes on the flop I would not shove here as if opp has an A they certainly will not fold. I would check and call with odds. You got lucky here, you got your money in as a dog.

20. AQo - standard. Sometimes I bet exactly the amount of opp's remaining stack, they occasionally get pissed off and call!

[Th 9d] BU (M=21.11; f+f+F) - with your stack size I would steal raise here

21. K9o - I would have bet this at some stage, probably on the turn.

[6s 9d] SB (M=13.42; f+f+F) - you can consider raising it up depending on reads on the BB.

24. K3o - don't mind your river bet but I would have bet on the turn. There are a few other hands above where I would have done the same too.

25. JJ - make it 3x BB to go. Don't vary your raise sizes based upon the strength of your hand!

26. Q6o - I don't mind the steal, but again, 3x BB to go. As played, C-bet the flop for about 500 after opp checks, you win it most times right there.

[Qs Ah] BU (M=8.69; r+F) - easy push over the raise

[9h Qh] SB (M=8.00; f+f+F) - maybe could shove this one too, tricky wiht 12x BB though.

[Kc 4s] SB (M=8.00; f+f+F) - could be another shove

28. Q8o - fine.

29. 96s - shove it back in his face. He's out if you win so unless he's a total donk he's not calling you with crap here, you win his limp and the blinds most times.

30. Q6o - good

31. 99 - perfect

OK, now you have a stack, but you can't tighten up so much! The hands that I think are pushes are in bold:

[As 4s] BU (M=11.13; f+F) - steal raise this
[6d Ac] UTG (M=11.06; F)
[As 7c] BB (M=11.00; r+f+f+F)
[8s Kd] SB (M=10.44; f+f+F) - steal raise this, if BB is <10x BB just shove it
[Kd 3d] BU (M=10.13; r+F)
[6h 8c] UTG (M=10.06; F)
[7d 3d] BB (Folded to Hero.)
[3h 6c] SB (M=10.44; p+f+F)
[Ad 9h] BU (M=5.79; r+F) - could be a shove over depending on stack sizes and reads
[As 3h] UTG (M=5.75; F)
[2s 4c] BB (Folded to Hero.)
[3c Tc] SB (M=6.11; f+f+F) - shove this
[7d Kd] BU (M=5.79; r+F)
[Ad 7c] UTG (M=5.75; F)
[6s 8h] BB (M=5.71; r+f+f+F)
[2c 8s] SB (M=5.11; p+f+F)
[5d 4h] BU (M=4.96; F)
[Jc 6h] BB (M=4.93; f+r+F)
[5c 9s] SB (M=4.30; f+F) - shove this
[2s 3d] BU (M=3.96; F)
[5c 4s] BB (M=3.93; f+r+F)

32. K2o - fine.

This clearly points out the problem with slowplaying. Here I have a good solid pocket pair, but you are totlly correct. The way so many people will call a 3-4xBB raise with Ax they kill me in this situation. I guess it goes back to the old adage, get all your money in when you're ahead.

Very helpful. I never know what to do with this hand. It was my biggest leak in FR games so I toss it 95% of the time now.

Thanks. I'm not sure it was gutsy play so much as it was uneducated play.

This is a huge opportunity for me. You and I both pointed it out on later hands (I know you mention it at least twice more). When there is a check on the flop, raise on the turn if checked to. I need to make that a rule it seems.

Thanks. I tried that today. It got me called while ahead twice in one SnG.

More because I can afford it and to keep the heat on while I have the stack?

The reason I varied the raise here was due to antes kicking in and more money in the pot. I see your point though and in hindsight it makes sense.

As a general rule, if steal doesn't work out, c-bet?

So he's only completing the blind here which typically is trying to see the flop cheap. Push to steal. Seems standard but based on the cards I ran scared. Here is a good reason for trying the "covering your cards and only playing position" experiment again.

This is actually a super flop for you, but you are vulnerable to overcards coming just as you are preflop. The chance that opp has a 7 is very low and you don't need to worry about a set/2 pair.

Very helpful. I never know what to do with this hand. It was my biggest leak in FR games so I toss it 95% of the time now.
Early in the tourney or if it was 6-handed or more I would toss it, but in this spot with your stack size it's worth a raise. 5-handed there are only 2 players who will have position on you postflop if they call.

This is a huge opportunity for me. You and I both pointed it out on later hands (I know you mention it at least twice more). When there is a check on the flop, raise on the turn if checked to. I need to make that a rule it seems.
Well, not every time, but particularly if you have position on your opp and they check the flop and the turn it's worth a shot IMO.

More because I can afford it and to keep the heat on while I have the stack?
Yep, when it's shorthanded and the blinds are increasing you want to keep the heat up. Plus from the button you have position if they call you, if they shove over you can comfortably fold.

As a general rule, if steal doesn't work out, c-bet?
It's probably a leak of mine to c-bet too much, particularly on dangerous flops (see my worst play ever post ). That said, if I'm raising preflop and am called, I'm probably betting 70-80% of flops that I miss and expect to take it down most times.

So he's only completing the blind here which typically is trying to see the flop cheap. Push to steal. Seems standard but based on the cards I ran scared. Here is a good reason for trying the "covering your cards and only playing position" experiment again.
I don't do this enough either, and you do need to watch out for opps that will raise every time when folded to in the SB and suddenly complete, but I think it's a great way to pick up chips with haands that have little postflop value.
