I mean, do I honestly read AK here...?
Alright, I don't have a hand history because I'm at work right now, but ill give you a very detailed background of this situation from a SnG last night and I'd appreciate your input (I'm at work right now and this one hand is bugging the hell out of me).. ok, here we go.
I joined a $20+2 180 man SnG on PokerStars late last night and hit some monster hands early and was the chip leader up until the first break. I'm by nature a very very aggressive player, applying heavy pressure. There was one hand that I read horribly and was forced to show down 92o to a pair of kings due to value, so I tightened up to the maximum. I had been at the same table the entire SnG right before the second break which I was moved to a table with 7 people below the 5500 chip average, me with 11K and the big stack with 18K. After the second break, the big stack gets involved in a hand with a guy where he calls a bet of horrible odds on a flush draw and the 3rd club comes out and he pushes all-in and gets the guy outta of the hand.. the guy had trips (or so he claims) and the big stack shows the flush. I thought that was stupid.. he coulda pulled a lot more chips out of the guy with trips.. but w/e I just kept that info in my head. A couple hands later, this situation arises...
I haven't played a hand yet at this table and wake up in UTG2 with AQs. with blinds at 100/200 and 25 ante 9 handed, I raise to 600, and Villain1 calls in mp3 the raise and leaves himself with 2,400 chips left. He's appeared very loose-passive, laying down to a few raises and never moving AI with such a low stack. Now, the Big Stack re-raises in the SB to 2250. My first thought is, is he smart enough to squeeze? 1 reason I believe so is he KNOWS the shorty will fold as every hand he's laid down has been to the Big Stack. Now I'm in a rut. I FLAT CALL the Big Stacks re-raise leaving me with about 8500. I tried to run through what cards he would need to make this play and ithe best I could come up with was 88+ and MAYBE a solid ace.. I don't think he'd do this with ATC, and was leaning more towards any PP. I feel that if the shorty will fold, my position and post-flop play will help me to take the hand. Calling this raise was probably my first mistake, but lets move on. The shorty does indeed fold, and the flop comes out 6c 2d Ah. the pot has 5525. he comes out betting 6700... I was taken back. I thought back to the hand where he moved AI when the flush hit and thought for a loooong time. Does he put me on a PP and act as the big A? is he making a HUGE c-bet? could he had AJ-? I thought for the Maximum time and push AI for the rest of my 8850 and he shows down AKs.. I was pretty frustrated and felt like I should have been able to lay this down.. possibly even pre-flop. after all, I was 4th in chips with 31 people left... One more thing that influenced my decision is everyone was talking about how predictabke the Big Stack was (minraising with suited connectors in LP, bet really big when he has the best hand, trapping early with monsters.) so I felt he was using this to his complete advantage and making a huge bet hoping I'd expect to believe he was holding the lock. I would really appreciate any input you guys have to ease my pain about this hand, and give me a couple suggestions.
