    Default Strategy Re-evaluation @ 50 000 hands -Q1. Raise J10s UG?

    Hi there,

Bit of background put $50 on stars mid nov, managed to get it up 2 $1000 last Saturday, playing $10nl 6 max & some $25nl, I was really chuffed & tried to push out some bigger numbers but 15000 hands later I'm am down to $900.

So I spent last night re-evaluating my game, & my main problem is tilt & being too loose with my stack with top pair & better. Those things I will try to work on myself but I also came up with a few strategy questions, some of which may be dumb, but I'll post them now over about 5 posts & any help would be cool, Thanks guys.

Q1. Raise Jack Ten suited under the gun?
I never raise this hand (sometimes button - my general stats are 28/10 but I think I will be aiming for 25/17 I think?)
but I see on the EV chart on this website (under poker strategy section) that J10 has a clear .13 / 13% (I guess) +ev in positions 3,4,5 & Button in 6 max.
And as it is sub-optimal to limp from UG or UG+1 it therefore seems to me like the most +ev move (generally) with J10s under the gun is therefore to raise?

I like to raise J10s a lot, but I think I have to adjust my game to be a little bit tighter. So I'm struggling with the same type of question I suppose .

As you probably guessed the answer to this question is "it depends". As a generally guideline I would be inclined it to raise it on tighter tables and fold it on loose tables where a lot of loose players have position on me and will call/float my cbets with a wide range. After all JTs is a marginal hand and unless you are very good postflop or your opposition is very predictable its a hard hand to play OOP postflop.

I tend to raise JTs and QJs UTG, but otherwise I am very tight UTG and MP.
You seem to be a good player too, you are one of the only people I have seen who have started with $50 and really played properly rolled throughout. Way to go.

You should be adjusting your raising requirements constantly to how the other players see you at the time and how tight/loose they are.

"It depends" is the only answer here. Wildbob and Robert explained why.
