    Default general question

how much credit do you give villain here? i seem to run into this a lot. would it have been better to bet the river 1/2 pot or 3/4 pot, and fold to a raise? or was the check/fold better?

how often is this a flush bluff when it's obvious i could have TP and had been trying to drive away the odds. (i was also afraid of Q7+ outkicking me here)

    no reads, 1st hand...

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB ($20.80)
    Hero ($19.40)
    UTG ($17.15)
    UTG+1 ($40.55)
    MP1 ($41.15)
    MP2 ($31.45)
    CO ($4.40)
    Button ($20.65)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6, Q.
UTG calls $0.25, 4 folds, Button calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero checks.

    Flop: ($0.85) 9, 4, Q (3 players)
Hero bets $0.75, UTG calls $0.75, Button calls $0.75.

    Turn: ($3.10) 4 (3 players)
Hero bets $2.5, UTG calls $2.50, Button folds.

    River: ($8.10) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $3, Hero??

    Final Pot: $11.10

I give zero credit and call.

I also bet a little less on the turn, $2, or check/call a reasonable bet.

i guess my question is: How often do you find this IS the flush, and how often do you find its a bluff?

what are your experiences with calling these? how often do you do it?

    Didn't notice the flush.

Anyway, it's so cheap in an un-raised pot that I call. You only have to be good 20% of the time to be 0eV. Call, and make a note that he calls 2 barrels with TPBK, or that he open-limps pf UTG with K5s, and chased a flush or, whatever happened. It'll help determine how much of an idiot he is and you can possibly start raising more hands for value when he open-limps.

these are the specific "notes" i rarely write down, and am trying to get better at.

i may say "chaser" as my notation that i took away the odds, and he still caught his draw...which means keep pushing with drawing boards, but believe the raise on flush/str8 cards.

but the calls 2 barrells is the one i need to note. or limps K5s and calls down w/ TP.

that stuff will help a lot. thanks, swigg.

Until I more history with villain my note would say

"open limped K5s, called PSB on Q92 flop with flush draw, called turn, 1/3 PSB on river when flush hit, Q6 no good"

This way I know what he did, and know what opinion he may have of me

i think i may say "chaser. 2 barrell wont work" from now on.

i generally know, by what i hold, whether the pot was limped or raised, as i dont call raises with much...especially w/o position.

2 barrels does work, it gains value

just as long as you know what you mean

So did I. If there is a flush draw you can be more confident in firing 2 barrels and folding if he bets 1/2 pot when the flush card hits. In fact, you would go against my previous advice and now bet $1 on the flop, and as played $3 on the turn because you expect and want him to call with the flush draw. You are also more likely to check/call blank rivers hoping he bluffs a missed draw.

now there you go! theres a missing piece to my pie.

i just cant get comfortable, as a general play, "pricing draws in" knowing they miss most of the time.

Not the spot to c/f, IMO, unless Villain never has a hand like JT or 9x there.

The trick to picking off induced bluffs is that you have to call...

maybe not the spot to c/f, true. but i was not trying to "induce a bluff." if i were, i would not have folded because villain BET/BLUFFED. the question was: how often is this a bluff, in all of your opinions?

not: what do i do here?
