SB checks, Hero bets $0.25, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, SB folds.

Turn: 8 ($1.5, 2 players)
Hero bets $0.5, UTG+1 raises to $1, Hero calls.

River: A ($3.5, 2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $2.5, Hero raises to $???

On the river, I was definitely expecting my opponent to bet, so I went for a check raise.

Was my play ok so far? What would have been an appropriate reraise in this situation?

BTW, the villain's stats were VP$IP: 42%, Total AF: 2.2, WtSD: 28%, W$SD: 42%, stacks were 23$ each.

I figured that my opponent is very likely to bet and checking gives me position on him. What's the disadvantage of checking here?

checking is good if you think he's gonna bet both the hands that you beat, and as a bluff.
but check raise only if he will call you with worse hands.
he'd need to be real bad to call with worse than your hand on that board.

flop bet was an "ive got a draw" min bet. it would be very hard to put you on anything other than the flush draw.

no way i c/raise this. c/c is really the only play that makes sense on this board.
