Default 5/10 deceptive straight vs meatcity

villian is meatcity, he is a TAG who spews too much but i think he is playing more sane today than what i've seen from him before. i called the flop because i thought i was ahead. i checked the river because hes aggro enough to fire with anything, but was unsure of how much to raise for value. i think he would call a minraise but not sure if he would call more. thoughts on any street?

this is the only other big hand we had played together in the session, not sure how relevant it is.

this seems like an interesting spot to shove no matter what your hand is.

but its so easy for him to have an 8 that shoving without it is spewing...i think

Especially since stacks are kinda deep, he has like 1200 behind, how about like 3x his bet

why not try doing some EV calculations to see if pushing without the 8 here is good if he always folds without the 8? it might be a good exercise for you or anyone else..

well, its really dependant on what range you put him on after the flop and turn action

no, i just meant you can do an equation with a river check push with air. how often does he have to fold for it to be good and such..

i pushed which i think was bad and he folded. i think theres probably value in a smaller raise.

If a push only gets called by an 8, then we should only push when we don't have one, right? Especially since 1 in 12 8s is also 89 nuts! (1/12 is only 7% or whatever, but that's like $100).

Should we push when we don't have one? 17% he has an 8 if you don't, given that he has any 2 in a blind war with not much betting. Betting 1200 to win 355... So, it seems slim but +EV to push with no 8. (I make it at +90)

Of course, if he knows this he may call without an 8...

Of course, of course, maybe betting less than 1200 with OR without 8 is best... unless he might re-raise you!

    OK, I just leveled myself.

My vote: min/raise with anything, including an 8 here, except maybe push 89.

I think he'd be making a mistake not calling a small raise from you.

I'd say a minraise is good for the first hand. I love the minbet in hand 2 on the river.

700 to go seems right to me if he knows you're capable of bluffing some % of the time in this spot.

Who knows, if he has lots of "spewiness" bent up inside maybe he'll push!
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

i like the re-raise bet of $655 to go...
