    Default Common scenario vs shortstack

    With no read on villain, I usually suspect the shortstacks to be retarded, and I see this done with any pocket pair as well as AK, Aq, and even random trash.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB ($52.05)
    BB ($96.10)
    UTG ($33.55)
    MP ($114.15)
    CO ($60.85)
    Hero ($107)

    Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, T.
    UTG calls $1, MP calls $1, 1 fold, Hero raises to $6, SB calls $5.50, 1 fold, UTG raises to $20, MP folds, Hero raises to $34, SB folds, UTG calls $13.55 (All-In).

    When it comes back to us there is $19 dead money in the pot, so it is effectively $27 to play to win $46. Or, we could call and hope for a good flop and that'll be like $14 to call to win $46. Is this too close to fold or too close to call? I dunno, I'm thinking it might just be too small an edge to try and push. Also, S&M suggest AJ being the worst hand to call against a Shortstack, but against these ranges it has the exact same equity.

    I ran some PokerStove calcs:

    equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 36.907% 36.53% 00.37% 750671292 7676688.00 { QTo }
    Hand 1: 63.093% 62.72% 00.37% 1288740132 7676688.00 { 22+, AQs+, AQo+ }

    and

    equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 26.397% 25.99% 00.41% 277668732 4373958.00 { QTo }
    Hand 1: 73.603% 73.19% 00.41% 782061048 4373958.00 { TT+, AQs+, AQo+ }

    Don't raise preflop to begin with. UTG is just too short, and SB to a lesser extent too although we really shouldn't be worried about it.

    As played, it's going to be close either way, just a matter of putting him on a range and going with it. Favor a call if it's extremely close, for sure.

    You basically have no edge calling the limp-reraise, I'd suggest just folding to it.
    when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

    You don't have to have an edge if the price is right. I agree with lukie, put him on a range and go with it. I guess its all about the range you put him on.

    I fold to his play preflop always with a hand like this. I just think you're domimnated way too often vs a trash hand.

    Case in point: limp reraise is BS a lot. villain is 60/8 (I misread preflop and thought he limp-pushed. I was surprised to see I had a call another bet :P)

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB ($196.20)
    Hero ($124.50)
    UTG ($84.35)
    MP ($121.60)
    Button ($280)

    Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, Q.
    UTG calls $1, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero raises to $6, UTG calls $5, SB raises to $70.5, Hero calls $64, UTG folds.

    Flop: ($146.50) 3, 9, Q (2 players)
    SB bets $126.2 (All-In), Hero calls $54.50 (All-In).

    Turn: ($327.20) K (2 players, 2 all-in)

    River: ($327.20) 5 (2 players, 2 all-in)

    Final Pot: $327.20

    Results in white below:
    SB has Jh Ad (high card, ace).
    Hero has Qc Qd (three of a kind, queens).
    Outcome: Hero wins $255.50. SB wins $71.70.

    when limp/raising, shorties range is usually not that wide, i´d put him on something like 88+, AJs+, AKo.

    I´m always confused, when i get limp/raised or limp/pushed and do frequently call him against my reads, just to race w/ dominated hands
