This is at a buddy's home game that is .25 .50 but gets into the 100s of dollars. There were 5 players in the game including me. everyone limps in this hand and i am holding 3 5 offsuit. Flop comes 2d Ad 4h. Everyone checks to the button and he raises 3 dollars. I just call at this point to see what comes off on the turn and so does another buddy. turn comes a 5. I check again and my friend that called raises 5 dollars. Button reraises to 12 and i know he has the trips. I think for a while and since me and button have huge stacks 100+, I go all in to not see the river. Everyone folds because of how obvious it is that i flopped a straight. I was certain that since my friend reraised that he did not have a boat. I thought it through and didnt want to see a river. How bad was this play. I was thinking of just calling or even reraising the turn, but flat calling 15 would showing i have a straight anway. Only way i get more action on the river is if my friend boats up. Any thoughts

If you want responses to this post you need more info. What position are you in, the BB? What are your reads on the players in the hand?

I'd suggest leading the flop $3, and play your hand aggressively because it's vunerable. With how you played it, pushing the turn is a huge overbet, you should make it 30 to go.

i was small blind and i checked first. We both had deep stacks and i put button on the 5. I knew he didnt have a boat and since my hand was vulnerable i did not wanna see the river pair again or boat mysteriously without knowing his whole cards.
