Watching TV on PC Monitor - Suggestions please
I have cable TV (Virgin V+ box) in my living room and have been investigating the best way to cheaply relay the TV signal to my monitor which is in another room (10m away and through 2 walls).
I have a wireless SCART transmitter that currently sends the signal to a 2nd TV in the kitchen. This works great albeit with some interference from the microwave ! My initial thoughts were to use this transmitter and on the receiving side convert the signal from SCART to VGA.
There are some cheap cables that simply take the composite synch from the SCART and split it into horizontal and vertical synchs required for VGA. That would be ideal but I am not sure if my LCD monitor will work with the 15KHz TV signal ??? There are some more expensive products that will do scaling and convert the frequency, but the cheapest I can find is £130 ($255).
Alternatively I could get a TV card for my PC and hardwire it from the TV output from my cable box but that would mean getting someone in to do the cabling and possibly a lot of upheaval.
Anyone tried something similar ? Are there any other cheap alternatives that I have missed ?
