    Default What's your policy ?

....when getting berated/abuse for pushing trash, even though it's +EV.

The following was for pushing 7 2 off from the button against 2 very tight blinds. My M was very low and it was a +2.0 push in sngpt.

    bettingman00 said, "lol"
    bettingman00 said, "****in donkey"
bettingman00 said, "come on pri ck"
bettingman00 said, "co ck boy"....ect ect

Now, i normally have chat off but i can't resist looking for the torrents of abuse to start. Bad policy for me.

Ignoring all this is the thing to do, obviously. Better still, pleading innocence and agreeing with him, but i find this difficult to do.

No, i do completely the wrong thing and give as good as i get. My ego wants them to know my play was correct and that i'm better then them and i'll even give them some friendly advice about their errant ways if i get them HU.

Why the fcuk would i do that ?

Btw, he is actually a winning player over 3000 tourneys with a 5% ROI, which surprised me, although this is only the 6.50's at Stars.

I usually just ignore them and hope i pick up an ok hand to push again (assuming you won) and hope they call you really light.

Usually I don't get into it, but if I'm feeling frisky I usually throw these out:

    "omfg, I thought I had a joker"

"i'm just here to click buttons"

    "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

"dawg, i'm ballin so hard it hurts"

Ya, i used the "im a baller" last nite when someone asked why i called with 920 and then k80 the next hand.

I usually say nothing, unless the person gets under my skin...

Then I'm a big fan of the classics.

    "Shh... I'm counting your chips"

    Or

"What'd you have again? I can't see over my stack"

    Or even better:

"I always play (your hand). My friend told me the site is rigged and it always wins."

I never tell someone WHY I did anything. If they don't know than it will only be a matter of time before you take their chips.

I've never been worked up even after losing to 7-2 when it WASN'T the right move to berate people. It's a game.

My only comment to people like this is that they need to look in the mirror and figure out why something like this would cause them to call you such nasty names etc.

Although some of the quotes here are pretty awesome!! LMAO
It's not how many pots you win, it's what's in them that counts.

I have a thick skin. I dont turn chat off, but I couldnt care less if someones berating me. If anything they're obviously fired up and probably out to teach me a lesson, giving me a chance to take even more of their chips.

If I get frisky though, some of those responses above might start coming out .
Just dipping my toes back in.

Whenever this happens I just turn chat off.

I usually have fun with them.

The "...counting your chips" line is always good and sometimes I'll add

".... these chips are wet..... are you crying??..."

Or.... I'll play into them by stating some dump theory.

One time I said I had to call because I had "FLOP ODDs".
I was asked if I meant POT ODDs and I told them no, that FLOP ODDs was completely different. Then another guys says "... Yeah, he's right... I read it in a book ...." and those two began arguing about it. I was laughing my ass off....
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

I think turing chat off because you can't handle someone is a leak. Poker is going to give you a lot tougher spots to deal with than some donk who doesn't know what he's talking about, and you're passing up free information. If people want to tell you how they play, why aren't you going to listen?

Meh, the sort of exchange above doesn't worry me in the slightest. I just ignore it, sharkscope them and laugh at myself when I see that little goldfish icon appear next to their SN.

I turn chat off when people get SERIOUSLY offensive, like racist, bigoted etc. in which case it's more -EV for me to read it and get pissed off rather than read what they would be saying.

Last night, a guy in chat told me that KK was the worst possible hand to run into with AK, and that it was a 9 to 1 underdog, then proceeded to berate me.

I could have told him that he was just a little better than a 2 to 1 favorite and defended myself. Instead I just told him...

"Huh unh. You way overplayed KK preflip." (intentional typo)

I got lots of action on the way to my win.
