why didn't you lead the turn?
i like a blocking bet on the river here, but given the previous action, it wouldn't make sense.

i do think you folded the best hand though. there are a lot of Ax hands you beat. even KK or QQ might play like this.

I like a 3-bet pre and I really don't like the flop c/r when you're wa/wb. Donking or c/c'ing flop is much better. As played you've made your flop c/r look like a J, which makes the river decision tough. I prob fold here too though, blech.

c/r c/c looks to me like you don't think he has an ace and are trying to get a cheap showdown with JX or a pair. It's a PSB and you have trips + 2nd kicker. I think you have to call, given how you underrepped your hand on the turn.

The funny thing is - aside from the off-chance of the back door crub frush, I LIKE how you played this (assuming you are trying to induce bluff on the river and call).

I don't get what Hero is trying to do with his line here.

I like check/calling the flop and leading the turn against this nit as that line has some nice properties for getting the most out of pairs and air while giving us lots of room to get away from the stuff that has us crushed as his range out of the Hi-Jack figures to be kinda tight.

I agree check/raise on flop isn't good, especially if i'm going to play it like this.

My main interest is if the river is a fold or a call.

I usually use these situations as an opportunity let my opponent hang himself, as there is really nothing to be gained by playing aggressively. As others have said, the flop check-raise doesn't accomplish anything. He might even fold trips with a weak kicker. I'm probably checking and calling most of the way unless I spike a Q or the case A.

As played, I'd probably call. It's hard to imagine how you are beat unless you got seriously coolered by a boat. Since the A of clubs is on the flop, it's unlikely he backdoored a flush.

Is it though? If the dude has an ace - and with the aggression you've shown he has to think you've got one - then with a PFR of 13 he is probably only behind if he's got AT (and even then I can't believe he'd push that river), since AJ and AK are both way ahead.

I don't see KK or QQ playing this way ever because PEOPLE CAN'T FOLD TRIPS (maybe they can at $200, I dunno) so it'd be hugely risky to bluff all-in on the river.

Another possibility is JJ - the bet sizing on the turn, of half the pot, is giving flush draws decent enough implied odds that they'll probably call/raise.
