Default Hand check short handed. I'm a donk? a nit?

All players ITM. Hero got dealt Ad8d in SB. Blinds at 100/200

    Stacks:

    UTG $6503
    CO $7099
    BU $4300
    SB (hero) $3214
    BB $2884

Folded to me... Should I check call or raise? I simply called but think should have raised 3xbb not sure.

    BB checks.

Flops comes As Qs Kh. I bet pot (400). BB calls.

Turn comes Ks. I checked. BB bets 600. I call.

River comes 5d. I checked. BB bets 1684 and is all in.. I *&#%&&^ folded. Unbelievable? Believe it. This hand costs me the tourney after looking back at my plays

Any comments about my play.. You are welcome to rub it in my face.

Hard to sy not knowing how the opp has played all game. I would raise pre flop.....2 1/2 to 3x seems right. If he folds fine. If he calls I c-bet 3/4 pot on the flop.

If he calls the cbet I check the turn and see what opp does. When you did that the opp bet 1/2 the pot (600). That concerns me. Are they the type of person to bet a draw? How have they played? If they are tight I fold. If they play a lot of hands I push.

Not sure what the EV is however I'm sure someone will work out the right % move.

I don't think folding here was that bad a play. You still had about 2k left which is 10BB.
It's not how many pots you win, it's what's in them that counts.

Yup, calling PF is weak, but what concerns me is my check on the turn. I'm pretty sure this is a bad move after leading the flop. BTW, opponent is tight.

    Usually raise this pre flop.

you played it fine from there. Assuming he isn't bluffing (which given the action is pretty reasonable), best case the river is a chop and you often get shown three kings here.

Rasie preflop, turn is a push/fold situation, calling gains you very little
