    Default Bankroll for stars 200+15

Eventually I would like to play the stars 200+15 one-two times a month. What sort of roll range should I be looking at to play this: $4-5K (20-25 buy-ins) is what I was thinking initially but I was hoping to get a line check on this.

    Thanks

4-5k is OK IMO for the occassinal shot, I would satellite in to keep the cost down, or only play when you're up 200+ for the week (or even better, both). Also, consider the nightly 150 grand which would be cheaper and give you a much better shot at winning. But, I understand the impulse to play in 'the big one'.

I would probably do something more like try to sat into it 1-2 times a week each month at around a 5k br.

Ya satteliting into it is a much better choice with that size bankroll. You can also decide not to play it if you do sat into it and take T$ instead.

Whether you satellite in or buy in direct is irrelevant. I would play lots of satellites anyway because they're some of the easiest money on Stars, but I'd use the T$ for other tournaments. I'd probably wouldn't play this regularly without a bankroll of 15K or more.

true, you're taking 200 out of the bankroll either way. I always get confused when I start thinking about whether playing sats makes any sense.

I am not qualified to answer any questions regarding bankrolls. However, from what I've heard on the street, 20-25 buy-ins is horrifically underrolled.

It only makes sense if the potential for a big score gets you motivated to play when you wouldn't be playing otherwise. If you have X number of hours to play poker then you're obviously better off playing your normal game than taking a shot.

Don't play the 215s. The variance is horrible and you're essentially gambling because I doubt you'll have an edge if you're not beating lower levels.

But if making money is not your primary concern and you'll have a lot of fun taking an occasional shot -> gl.

The playing sats suggestion is irrelevant, you're risking 200 one way or another.

I'd be comfortable playing the Sunday Million with a bankroll of around 25k.

25k sounds about right IMO. You'd probably be better off playing some other tournaments if you want to take shots, simply because the gamble factor is less...

There was a pretty decent article on pocket fives a couple days ago talking about this: http://www.pocketfives.com/CB56AB5E-...951B4DC7D.aspx

if you wanna take a break from br grinding(don't know how you grind) and change it up i do this sometimes i sng gring say my roll is 3k and i wanna play the millions next month i wont play unless i make at least double the buyin (430-500)so when i start again next month if i chose to my requirements will change cause my roll will be $3215 almost like pulling cash out to buy something i don't do this all the time but it's a good mixup sometimes from the grind.
i do this for every tournament even $20 i have to make 40-60

If you're not on Stars it makes a difference as others don't have T$
I started a new job so don't play much ATM, just FTP mini grind
