Default extracting max value in a 3bet pot

    villain is unknown.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    MP ($99.90)
    Button ($92.29)
    Hero ($110.50)
    BB ($96.10)
    UTG ($203.96)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K, K.
2 folds, Button raises to $4, Hero raises to $12, 1 fold, Button calls $8.

    Flop: ($25) K, 4, J (2 players)

should Hero check or bet? and why?

    No hindsight for the blind.
I uaually just assume he's got AK and go for the line that gives most value against that. If he has better then the money is gonna find its way into the pot anyway, if he has worse it's not.

So in this pot I'd just bet right out, planning to do the same on turn/river.
