MSN & AIM suck

    Default MSN & AIM suck

As of right now, I will no longer have AIM or MSN open during my sessions. If you want to contact me during my session, I will be in Vent.

Can you tell when I was talking to Spenda, Euph, Halvsame and Pizzatron on IM's? It seems, I can't look at bad beats, Brags, HH's and type general chat while playing. I seem to have no problem in Vent while playing for the time being.

This is not a complaint, but a change in philosophy. I want to talk poker 24/7 with all my buddys on the list, I want to add new poker buddys to my list. But I will not type in an IM window during a session again.

I shut down every thing during a session now.
No cell phone, no IMing, no nothing. It really does fuck up your concentration.

Don't be too discouraged Trainer, my graph for yesterday looks about the same and I wasn't talking to anyone.

I agree for the most part. Occasional good chat in vent can be a good thing I think, but if things get noisey I leave there too. I don't remember the last time I had an IM program (or web browser when not in level 1 single-tabling a tournament) open while playing.
    I run a training site...

I have my own channel in there and it has a side room that is muted. There is no talk at all when watching videos. I don't find the occasional "poker chat" or hand posted for review to be a problem. There is always a time and a place for it. I'm not a full time player so I need to make up time where I can. If I don't go to vent when playing I will never go to vent. But as Jefferey says, when it gets noisy I either boot them or just leave myself.

I noticed yesterday I seem to lose concentration after a while or something, as I ran up to $70 in no time, and then proceeded to lose most of it and finally quit when I got rivered on a big pot and ended +$10 for the day at 4 hours played or so.

I notice I become a bit careless or something when I am doing good, so today I decided after another hot streak to keep putting a lower limit after which I would quit after I hit it. I kept going up at 50ptBB/100 so finally dropped down from $145 to $125 and now I stopped playing. This might also help if you do this.. that way it doesn't really matter what causes you to lose concentration, whether it is AIM, fatigue, a winning rush, tilt, whatever. If you've won a bunch set a lower limit, increase it gradually should you keep winning, and if you drop below it take a break or quit for the day..
