When they 4 bet...

    Default When they 4 bet...

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere on here before,
but when we 3 bet an average villian with 10.10+, AQ+ & they 4 bet...
What do we call, fold or raise with generally & does your position post flop play a factor?

(assuming we are new to the table and no reads.)

Fold unless you have AA-KK, AK (if your site in general is aggressive enough). For me it's just AA-KK.

at small stakes fold unless you have AA-KK. Push AA-KK

yea i 3bet AK from the SB the other day and was 4bet from the button (18/12 type). It seemed like a nitty fold b/c I can see him 4betting JJ/QQ there.

Its very rarely QQ and pretty much never JJ

But hell I would 4bet JJ from the button if the SB 3bet me.

How wrong is that? God just typing it makes it seem bad

I had two full stacks going AI PF, and I had AK suited. I figured I might have a decent shot at it, as they had been lightly 3 betting. Sadly, I folded and they flipped QQ and JJ, perfect for me. I would have nailed a straight vs. trips. As long as someone has KK or AA I woulda been toast, very shocked neither had one.

Why would you 4-bet JJ from the BTN when you have position on him and he's 3-betting a wide-range? You're blowing him out of all worse hands and letting him off easy.

What worse hands are gonna call your 4-bet?

If you flat call, he's for sure gonna cont bet with all low-mid pairs that you're ahead of.

I like having the initiatve plus the fact that I am still not totally comfortable playing postflop NL with full to deep stacks.

I understand it's bad, but it seems like if I dont 4bet I turn JJ into a set hunting hand which just seems really nitty.

Once you 4-bet it preflop you're basically committing yourself so you're gonna have to call a push. So why not call the 3-bet in position and get it in on a board you like?

i am with you on that. I overthink myself way too much. Maybe if i would just play strait forward i could get back to $100nl finally.

Quit blaming it on over-thinking, and start putting the blame where it really belongs, on Lee Jones and his damn Doom Switch.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.
