    Default WSOP Strategies

I know a few people from FTR are heading off to Vegas for the WSOP. I was just curious. Other than outlasting the thousands of players, what strategies are going through your mind as you prepare for the trip? Do you think your strategy will change when you enter the poker room or do you think it will remain consistent (assuming normal adjustments for players, positions, chip stacks, etc.)

No matter what the stakes are, poker is still poker. Just try to play the best you can.

A lot of us though are just going there to hang out and play in the cash games, I only know of two FTR posters who will be playing in the main event.

Who are all the FTR names playing in the main event. I remember a few years ago a bunch of guys were going and posting in some official WSOP thread.

I'm playing in the main event, as well as a couple of others. Definitely the limit shootout, and probably a no-limit event next Friday (and Saturday if I bust out on Friday). I might play the $5k short handed next Thursday, but that's a pretty high buy-in, and I fear the competition might be kinda stiff because of that (anybody have any relevant thoughts on this?)

If you guys are interested, I'll try to keep you posted.

As for strategies, I guess identifying and seeking out the bad players will be very important in the main event, since I suspect there will be a huge difference in skill level. Other than that I don't know. I'm from Norway and we don't have casinos. The only time I ever played in a casino my hands started shaking and my face turned red every time I had something good. Maybe I'll just drink a lot.
