Technically, you don't have the nuts here. The nuts would be 87 for an 8 high straight.

With that said, it probably didn't matter what you did on the turn. Personally, I would have smooth called and hoped SB took another stab at the pot on the river.

BTW, I think the SB was trying to represent the straight and when you pushed figured out that you had it and let the hand go.

Yeah, technically it isn't, but to me its nuts since only one hand beats mine (LOL, I have both ends of the straight. Finally a 72 that works). My money is going in here no matter what.

But flat-calling is better and hope for the river bluff? I tried to make it look as if I was bluffing (let the timer almost run out, etc). Maybe that's a BIG leak?

I would have called and hope he would bet on the river, but if he did not call your turn push I doubt he is putting any money on the river.
He probably had the 2 for a lower str8
