Default Commented $27 for bjsaust (and others)

As per bjsaust's request, here is a $27 that I played recently where I have commented on my play. I don't think I played this perfectly, so any further comments would be most welcome!

The Tournament Trimmer (v1.1.2w) was developed by JeffreyGB at http://www.FlopTurnRiver.com.

This was one of the tougher HU battles that I've had. It also got to HU much earlier than normal for a turbo. Blinds are usually at least 200/400 if not 300/600 by the time a $27 turbo gets to HU.

Plus top pair HU is a very strong hand, almost regardless of kicker. That said, C-R all-in on the turn would have saved me from making this tough call though.

    Thankyou very much!

Hand 2: Man, its good to see you do that. I've done that before and wondered whether I'm crazy or not.

Hand 7: Is this std from UTG for you? Also raise to 400, you find thats as good as 450 (3xBB)?

Hand 8: Was that an easy raise into the bigstack?

Hand 11: Wow, I really need to rethink what I consider aggressive .

Hand 12: That seems unusually high raise UTG for you. If you didnt want action that might make sense. Is this because you're hoping to be called and building a pot?

Hand 13: Hmm, I wonder what hand they'd raise from UTG but fold to the shove. Perhaps just one of those people who dont understand position. Interesting though, passive short stack, good to know.

Hand 30: Hmm tough hand. Given how much he's been completing, was this a spot you could have raised PF? I would have raised a full pot on the flop I think, you have TP but its vulnerable. I'm happy to take it down now with a big bet, and a call/raise would ring all kinds of warning bells. Given he only has 2.5k behind on the turn you might as well just shove over.

I'll wait for the rest . Hope there wasnt too much more.

    [edit] Oh, there it is!

Hand 36: Nice hand. Weird little min-raise from Opp there, could mean anything.

Given how aggressive you normally are, I found it a little strange you let him complete so often HU, was there any reason for that, or do you just look for a higher range of cards to raise from BB with?
Just dipping my toes back in.

Remember because it's 4-handed, that UTG is also CO. Yes, once blinds hit 50/100 I tend to raise a bit less than 3x BB, saves you some chips if you miss the flop and want to c-bet.

I guess the other alternative would be to just complete and play for set value. However, these guys were playing a bit weak/tight - I thought that I might take it down with a preflop raise, and if I'm called I have the initiative on the flop to make a c-bet. Even better, if somebody calls and I hit my set my hand is well disguised.

Probably would have just raised 500 here, think it was a misclick. That said, I don't mind raising a bit more from UTG with AK since there are three players still to act and 68% of the time I don't hit an A or K on the flop.

Idiot. Small-medium pocket pairs play VERY well heads up but can't be played postflop. If he had just shoved over my 3x BB raise I would have instafolded. I was actually concerned that he would have like QQ-AA since his minraise seemed to beg for action.

Yeah, I could probably have raised a bit more from the BB when opp just completed. I guess why I didn't was a) blinds were still relatively small compared to stacks and b) opp was a bit of a calling station so might call my raise rather than folding.

Very nice... there's really nothing I'd do differently. I'm getting jealous of seenig all these tourney's posted where the bubble busts so early. I swear everything I play requires a ton of patience and a little luck with push/fold poker and high blinds.

I've been on a ugly streak of 2nd place finishes where I really thought I had 1st locked up and I think you touched on something I've noticed. When you have an opponent who doesn't raise Pre-flop and you figure out he's most likely folding to your raises you open your range up. What happens to me is I chip away at his stack with PF raises or stealing pots with position after it's checked but then I get impatient and play against him when he shows aggression. I know I should be smart enough to know his range in those spots, and just wait for a great trapping hand like you did.

Anyways, thanks for the insight into your game, I'm sure it will help a number of us.

Yeah, thats something I'm trying to work into my game. Its easy to pay attention when someones being loose and/or aggressive, but its also important to notice when they're being tight and passive, so when they do wake up you give them more respect than you otherwise might.

Well played sir! You could have been a little more aggressive when you started HU play, but it kind of set you up for raising wide later in the tourney. When you got him short, I think that you should have started to really pound on him by raising every hand from the sb. But, all in all though it looked really good.

Anyone shoving over on hand 31? I think you would have some fold equity here and opp has been betting 1000 pretty consistantly when you check. Plus if he calls you have 8-11 outs.
