Default Do SNG's ruin you ring game?

So, i use to play more cash games and decided to just play sng's for a while. The thing is, I find myself fold, fold, fold everything but primo hands until it gets down to 4-5 players. Then I turn into push fold mode steal blinds and make it into the money. I'm doing great and the bankroll is growing. The problem is I 2 or 3 table it a couple hours a day, and I know that I would never play this way in a ring game. In ring I have to play more hands from different positions and wouldn't be push/fold anything preflop. - I guess what I'm saying is I feel like my play might be getting worse because of the tournament structure even though I'm still making money. Does anyone have this same issue or do you just switch it on and off, or specialize in one or the other????? Thanks in advance.....

I cannot say that SNG's ruin my cash game as they are a complete different kettle of fish. However, I do not try to play both at the same time.

I usually specialise in shorthanded cash games but I love playing SNG's and if it coincides with clearing a Pokerstars bonus then I'm not playing anything else.

I agree. They are different games with different styles required to win. When I started learning cash I more or less had to relearn the game, apart from some basic core skills (board reading, reading opponents, aggression etc). Biondino put it well, it's like a top tennis player learning hockey - a lot of the core skills required for the two games are the same (hand-eye coordination, fitness etc.) but it's still a different game.

But it's so much faster to clear b0nuses playing cash than SNGs!

They are different, and I suck at ring games

Push/fold poker made me so much more positionally aware in ring. You should be able to maintain different strategies for the two games. I guess just play ring games occassionally if you're worried that you'll forget.

No, just don't play sng poker in a ring game and vice versa.
