what do these damned bets mean?

i have been seeing this a lot lately, but am wondering if they are bluffs? i am not convinced they are...since they look like bluffs, it may be a bet into the aggressive with some kind of hand, but...

how strong is it to do this? can it beat TPTK? or is it a scared 2nd best?

villain in hand one is semiloose and aggressive. been buying a lot of small pots, but havent seen him float yet...or try and steal a larger pot. doesnt mean he's not capable, as i've only been at the table for 30ish hands.

villain in hand two is VERY tight preflop. therefore, nothing on him post flop. i bumped him off a hand with AK that i had to 3bet on the flop to take because he minraised me. i, then stole his blind from the button and i suspect he was laying for me, but this looked like a "lets see how you react to this bluff."

Hand 1: I fold the hand unless I have a strong read otherwise. With no reads as you mentioned, this is a pretty standard mucking. I'm trying to think of hands that follow along then push twice the pot on the river and still be weaker than yours, but I can't think of any.

Hand 2: Same thing here. The only difference is that you played it quite oddly. I don't mind a check raise on the flop if you think he'll bet out, but come on man, pot that. I'm calling in his spot here with any pair. Same with the turn, bet bigger.

i gotta agree with hand 2. kind of FPS. but, i usually dont pot flops and turns anymore...i used to. but, with people tightening up, it stopped getting action...so, i dropped my standard bets to 2/3 to 3/4. i will bet light into scare boards for both value and as a cheap bluff.

my bets are consistent enough i dont think anyone can put me on which is which...on any street. and they induce bluffs (see my trouble?)..which works out VERY well when i hold the monster.

but, not so much when i am "tapping on the glass." thats prolly another difference between the 25's and 10's...the 10's let you get away with that...the 25's dont.

bad habits are hard to break, man. but, i'll get back...just gonna take some time.

hand 1 is usually a flush possibly a straight sometimes.

2nd hand you butchered. bet out flop your self and bet it a lot harder.

1. He's not smart enough to bluff at this most perfect situation.

2. Bet bigger. As played, block bet river, fold if raised.

In general, dont bet less money because you're not being called, but bet more often.

rarely do i hear advice that is so well put. thank you. everyone in here questioning bet sizes should take this comment to heart.

not that advice here is ignored...its just never so "to the point." short answers are usually a bit flippant, and long answers are like mine...long. lol.
