    Default My MTT play

Hello, ive been working on my MTT play lately, and got a 4rth in a 5$ tourney last night (217$ profit, 480ish people), so i did the 28k on fulltilt tonight and i did well, got unlucky with 3 suckouts but i think i played well. I realllllly want to know if i play well, or if i have leaks and how i should fix them.

P.S=I had trouble with hand 19, i feel i may have misplayed it.
Also, my HH is screwed up. Hand 22 (22 vs 55) is from another tourney and it also missed my bust out hand. So i will tell you it:

Stack sizes are about the same. 2 hands after the last hand of the link below, i get JQ in the SB. Folds around to me and i call. BB, Legionaire, raises to 9k. I call, have 21k left over. Flop comes AQ7. I check, he raises 10k, i go all in. He calls and shows KJ. Turn is of course a 10 and im out.

Heres the Tourney minus the bust out hand. For some reason it wont let me post the whole URL until i have 50 posts (why? i do not know), so please copy paste this:

    PLEASE BE BRUTAL. Critism/suggestions/critique????

Thanks a lot, you have no idea how much a appreciate it!

I like the way you played alot of these hands...however

on hand 14, i think you bet too much with the Jacks preflop..i wouldve made it only 300 standard raise because of the utg limp, if he repops u, you can get away for cheaper if need be. WIth him limpin utg, it is less likely you'll need to drive people out behind you because they also view the guy utg limping and you raising him. They'll see this strength and wont mess around without a strong hand usually.

side note, you could increase your button raising range when its folded to you and try to steal until they tell you you can't. For example with the 5-6 , its a good stealing hand and if ur repopped then you dump it but its good spot to pick up chips

Hand15: dont like the push at all, ur going through a lot of players with a-2..if your called by any hand, ur gonna be about a 70-30 underdog at best unless a random Kq calls you. You should be more willing to push with 9-8 s then a-2. 9-8 is better against hands that would call a shove.

    hand 16-
wait until the blinds go through you. rabo is telling you he'll call or at least he should with decent odds on a likely resteal push from you. Knowing you're likely to get called, its not worth it to push here, wait til the button where youre more likely to take down an uncontested pot

Hand 17- same deal and same exact betting pattern, his min raises mean he has a reasonable hand hes willing to play with in the SB, your lucky not to be dominated

hand 19- maybe its me but im a really cautious preflop player, calling such a huge raise with 9's i wouldnt do because there are so few flops you'll feel comfortable with and youll have to play a guessing game to see what hand hes betting with because you know hes betting 75% of possible flops at least. you shouldnt be set hunting at this blind level. I would either push or fold.

In between hands 20 & 21...u shudve pushed the 4-6 and J-8 on the button and cutoff...M of only 4, you still have fold equity to win uncontested pots...

    Hand 24- good isolation raise

Hand 25- why not raise to 1500 and see if someone with a10 gets enticed to resteal?? all in is very strong this early position and you almost want action to build a stack but its 50-50 either way cuz u still pick up a nice pot

Hand 26-once again i detest the pushed with a-2, just dont do well against callers...many other tourneys you will be called and realize why its not a great move

Hand 27 again very strong but it makes sense because ur playing a-2 and other hands the same way and keeping it consistent, so eventually ull get paid off.

In between 27 and 28 and you dont raise the button with k-9????!!!!!? you need to seriously start opening from the button, you are losing so many chips...!!

Hand 38...i really dont like the flat call.. its the same thing as your hand with nines...theres just not alot of flops youll like. even less than when you had the nines. You have to either fold or push this late in tourney. Why call off 25% of ur stack to see if youll hit a set. youre not getting the right odds.

    Hand 39-
duesces are really weak and too hard to play OOP without a set. I would check fold the flop here.

Overall i think you played well. Some huge improvements you can make though are widening you button and cutoff opening range and taking another look at the way you play pocket pairs.

Thanks a lot fof the reply rocco, i appreciate it much. I dont think pushes with A2 or A-rag from button or cutoff are all that terrible, i have seen many calls by KJ k10 KQ type hands by large stacks (which i am a slight favorite against), but i agree suited connectors are probably better pushes.

As for the mid pairs, i agree entirely. I have a lot of trouble playing them.
Can anyone tell me the odds of the flop being unders or set to 77-QQ?

I am anxious for your opinion also Crazy, i need all the suggestions/help/ reassurance that im playing well since i cant seem to get a large cash.

Hoping to be hearing from more of you!

Hey, Just because you're not getting a big cash doesn't necessarily mean you're not playing well..Variance in MTTs is unbelievable and the best of players can go 50 tourneys without cashing....Look at Bel0wAb0ve's stats on his longest non cash streak, i think its close to 50...

And personal example from me... I recently played a 33$ and a 10$ rebuy and i thought i played amazing in each but as i was eliminated from each, i learned another subtle thing about my game and where i could improve. In the 33$ rebuy, I learned to keep pots very small when OOP, and in the 10, i learned that i should be raising pairs later when blinds increase as opposed to just limping. You really should try to steal the blinds if you're going to play the hand. SO every tourney you play, you should ask yourself how you could've played it differently and try to learn something new so when a similar situation arises, you can make the correct play.

Yea, variance is a bitch. But i dont have any big cashes yet on this site, and i think ive been playing very well the last 2 weeks or so. Guess i have to just plow through it, and make sure im playing well here.
    Thanks
