Default Final hand at a 10$, 6-max SnG

I'm afraid I closed the window so I don't have the precise hand history, but I recall the cards fine. I ended up winning this SnG, but I was just curious if I'm extracting as much value as possible here. So here goes:

Me and Villain remain HU, 9000 chips in play total, I possess about 5000 to his 4000. Blinds are at 40/80

I'm dealt 8d Th in the BB, Villain calls, I decide to check.

Flop comes out: 7s 9c Jc (Pot: 160)

I lead 120 into the pot, villain calls.

    Turn: Ks (Pot: 400)

I again lead 300 into the pot, villain pops it to 700. I let my timer run a bit and re-pop it to 1500, villain just calls.

    River: 6d (Pot: 3400)

I pause for a few seconds and shove in the rest of my stack. Villain thinks for a while and asks "2 pair?". I'd been more chatty than usual this game, friendly banter and all, and simply told him I had a straight. His timer ran down and he finally called, showing Kc9h for 2 pair and I took down the pot.

Now with reads (especially my read on how he viewed me this particular game, which was TAG but eventually loosening up) I figured I would get him to call that turn reraise. However, was my open shove on the river my best option? I was really concerned he would fold, and I was hoping he'd interpret my turn 3-bet and river shove as a busted flush draw or some other kind of bluff.

Do I ever check this on the river to try and induce a bluff? Do I put him in for half his chips to make his call more likely? I was fairly certain he had a good hand and that he'd stay in, but I wasn't sure if the shove would cause him to reconsider.

    Any thoughts?

I think you played this perfectly on all streets, vnh.

I like your flop lead for two reasons a) you built a pot when you flopped the nuts and b) you deny opp odds if he has two clubs.

Turn play is perfect too - shoving over Villain's re-raise would probably blow him out of the pot. I think the river shove is great - considering the pot size and how many chips you and Villain have left it's actually about a 3/4 pot size bet and opp will almost never fold after re-raising and calling your re-raise on the turn.

I would never ever check the river here, you risk opp just checking behind to get a cheap showdown which would lose you a LOT of value. As I said above, opp has about 2300 chips behind so a half pot bet would leave him with 700 chips - just put him all in. The other thing you could do is bet the exact amount of his remaining stack, I find that some opps get so annoyed when you do this that they spite call - nh, gg.
