Sorry to say it but yes you did donk it! You played it fine up until you called the raise on the flop. With top pair and a reasonable flush draw I'd just shove it right there.

Here's an example of how to play a pair + flush draw - and it's not even nearly as strong as yours!

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    UTG+1 (t1260)
    MP1 (t1550)
    MP2 (t1770)
    CO (t1765)
    Button (t2285)
    SB (t1645)
    Hero (t1795)
    UTG (t1430)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5, 2.
3 folds, MP2 calls t100, CO calls t100, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

    Flop: (t400) 2, 3, J (4 players)
SB bets t200, Hero raises to t1695

How do u decide whether to push in situations like this? In your example, would u push a pair + oesd? What about an unpaired flush draw with overcards?

Sorry for noob questions, I've been having some rough times the past couple of days and am starting to question my overall play.

Hard to give a general answer, it is very situation dependent - with the preflop action, position, stack sizes, blind sizes, number of players left and reads all important.
