Default A new manic strategy advice

    Hi all

Recently a new player started to play in our weekly home game and managed to set the whole table on tilt. Basically this person would re raise every single time someone raised and then went nuts after the flop. After a few showdowns of hands like Q5 most of the table started to call more libraly.
My strategy was to tighten way up, I am wondering if this was a good way to play this kind of table. Basically I just called with real strong hands pre flop and then if I hit the flop strong I just bet out more then usual knowing I would be paid off with a weaker hand. This seemed to work for awhile, till the blinds got higher. Then I tried to make a move. The manic reraised as usual and I pushed as the big stack, the nut called me with the second biggest stack with a K4 and the king high held.

So I am wondering if my early strat was a good way to play, and if later I should of just held tight and pushed with a real strong hand knowing I would of prob been called?

    Thanks,

    Jutah

You raise with a real hand and then push to his inevitable re-raise. if you don't hit a real hand, you are kind of obliged to play tight unless there are lots of limped pots and the stacks are big enough to play drawing hands.

If you were the big stack you must have been doing something right.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.
