I guess you have an M over 5 and still over 10 BB's.
My style is to play it like you did. I like to see flops before making a huge commitment to the pot. You're already in the BB and in effect getting a discount to see the flop. By seeing a flop you have more flexibility. If an A comes you can get away. If your opponent shows weakness and blinks you can take the pot away on a stop n go.
With your read that it was a steal you could push theoretically but you didn't need to risk it.
I don't like to push overcards like AK preflop ever in a tournament since it is a drawing hand. The few exceptions are where you have to because your short stacked or when you are big stacked and picking off the shortys. Otherwise, make a normal raise or call with AK/AQ type hands and play the flop.
However, if you were holding something like 55-99 in BB there I would shove. Short of a set there is not much good to come from seeing a flop.
