People let me tell you about my best friends...

Default Pot control with flush board

This situation makes me so sick. Wondering about my turn check. I felt that Opp could have me, but it was pretty likely I was ahead. To keep the pot small, I checked the turn. Lo and behold the 4th spade comes out like a bad dream. This happens quite often when I'm trying to tread lightly in dark tunnels. Do you fire away and fold to a raise or check?

I would check behind on the turn. This is a way ahead/way behind situation so you don't want to put any more money in the pot - if the draw got there you're drawing to an A or 6 on the river, if opp has one then the chance of him hitting on the river is less than 1 in 4.

On the river, that is a seriously ugly card. I would call a very small bet but fold to any reasonable bet.

    I agree with taipan.

In position I'd rather just bet 300 on the turn, folding if he check-raises or calls and donks the river for a significant amount. If he calls and checks a blank river I'd make a small value bet of about 400. Any club or king pretty much kills your hand. That's 1/4 of the deck so I wouldn't call this a way ahead / way behind situation. I don't really mind getting check-raised on the turn (and folding obviously) because if he does that I'll have lost the same amount that I would have lost if I'd checked behind and called a river bet. But you get more value out of weak aces if you play it the way I said IMO.

Checking the turn is a lot better if you have a club in your hand, then there are a lot fewer rivers you hate to see.

    I agree with Mcat.

as played I think I would want at least 4/1 on a river bet and honestly 5/1 is probably better because this is as close to never a bluff as it gets.
