Default Question for fellow high stakes railtards.

Whatever happened to thelimitking on ftp? I know for a short period he was str8 killing playas in the 500/1000 and 1000/2000 limit games. he had a very strange style for an expert as he would routinely call down with hands like 6 high in a heads up pot. His specialty was hu limit. Oh and i know this is the high stakes nl forum but there is no high stakes limit forum.

not sure if you are actually tlk or not but i am not jokeing when i say tlk makes some crazy calls. he won several thousand off of the infamous neverwin with 4 high a few months back. The game was 1/2k hu limit. i don't remember positions but nw raised pf and tlk called. Nw raised every street and tlk called every street. They both had 4 high but tlk had the better kicker. They talked about the hands for weeks at nwp. Now nw is is a top notch player in his own right and you think he would have an edge over some dude that makes such hopeless calls but you would be wrong. They played several times and tlk came out on top in the long run

    its not me

the hand u talk about imo is not worth talking about... if he makes such plays then he is inducing something or he is an idiot. if he won with 4high then that is not good read thats just luck. why u even bother about that player ?

MAYBE BY MAKING THAT HAND AND IT WORKING OUT, THEN SPREDING THAT SHIT HE INDUCED 10 MORE AMATEURS TO SIT DOWN WITH HIM AND BRING MONEY TO TABLE.

but anyway from what i know as i sometimes see some guys play high limit (like that famous chinese or japan guy at pokerstars) and its very agreesive but not stupid if he think he is beat he fold even to 1 river raise bet. so if u saw some random hand that look cool, its just luck. imo high stakes limit is quite hard to play (its both math + very good reads) but u dont call 3 reraises with 4 high and BETTER kicker.

This thread broke my brain. 4-high better kicker? 42 vs 43?
You can't have a 4 high. The board beats you.

In any case - in limit you can call the last bet on the river with anything for metagame. Tells opponent to never bluff you for 1 bet. (I guess, I'm not saying this a some kinda ninja move).

I think the hand was something like TLK raises on the button, NW calls. Flop Q, 5, 2 or something, check, bet, raise, call. Turn Q, bet, call. River 5, bet, call. NW turns over 3-3 and TLK turns over 4-4 and wins the pot with 4 high. An absurd call down, but some people claimed it was genius.

He probably misread the board and didn't want to admit that his "amazing" call was a mistake.

yeah, i don't understand really either and that's a plausible explanation.

Here's the only thing that i could think of that would make sense. TLK put him on some kind of range from the betting by the river that only included 7 specific hands, one of which was 33. Maybe his line could only be 88,77,66,44, and 33 (again, i don't know how he could narrow down his range like that, but who knows how much history these guys have). If this was the case, this call would obviously be good.

Obviously I've never played NW before, but I would estimate his total range is something like any Q, any 5, any pocket pair (slightly discounting the premium pairs) any 2, 6-4, 6-7 or air. The only hands in this range (including the bluffs) that 4-4 beats are 3-2 and 3-3. Without bothering to do the math, it's pretty clear that calling $1K into a $7K pot with such a small chance of winning is a losing decision.

The only reason people took the hand so seriously was because these were high stakes players, and so there "had" to be some sort of deep reasoning behind the call.

if NW's range has 16 hands and two of them are 32 and 33 then he should call. Putting someone on a range of 16 hands isn't super hard with a lot of history.
