If i push im almost certain bigstack folds, thus giving my A8 3:1 vs close to a random hand. Too risky?

Call and let him make mistakes in the sidepot. I'm not convinced big stack will fold often enough.

I love this move. Bigstack has no reason to call unless he has a premium hand or has some reason to call bullshit on you from your past play. I really don't think anything worse than AQ will look you up here, and AQ probably shouldn't.

You said it right, you are probably ahead of the shorty, probably behind the bigstack, so there is no reason to call here. If you want to play a speculative hand for a flop against a bigstack, don't do it in a hand where you will be forced to show it down because of the shorty. This spot is mostly an easy fold, but you know the bigstack better than I do, and if your experience says he lays this down here enough of the time, this is exquisite, logical, correct poker.

As an afterthough, this play is actually easier to make here with something like k8 as you will still have 1.5 overs on most of his pp range, are still ahead of absolute trash, and can do a better job dodging being dominated by a better ace. A8 is still more than enough of a hand here though.
