    Default AK 5th hand to min-reraise ($27)

5th hand, no reads other than that in the previous hand I had open raised KQo from the button, opp (then in the SB) min re-raised and minbet an AKJ flop.

    How is this shove over?

If he's likely to be minbetting the flop, I think I want to just take the flop with the guy.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!

I don't mind this but I just call and see a flop. I don't know how much we can read into his reraise the previous hand. Yes we can assume a looser range here but not by that much. If we call we have the implied odds vs. a lot of his range... That said, we don't hit all the time so shoving and taking the chips now isn't a bad play.

this is +EV. I might be tempted to make it 500 instead.

I don't hate calling, but my main concern is AXx flops with one broadway, it is hard to play the hand well.

Feels trappy, but push is still probably +EV.
Just dipping my toes back in.

If opp just calls are you shoving any flop? Obv if opp shoves we're calling so wouldn't it be better to get it all in straight away and maximize FE? Why is 500 better?

I see what you mean, that would be a horrible situation. I still like a call as I don't want to get involved in such a big pot early when AK isn't a huge favourite against his range, depending on how much you read into his donktastic play in the previous hand.

Can somebody 'splain to me why this is +ev? There is no way that we have a good enough read to know what villians range is on this hand and AK is just Ace high unless you hit an A or K. Is it not possible that he has picked up two big hands in a row?

I just don't see the need to go to the felt with a donk this early in the tourney when I can wait and trap him when the odds are more in my favor. Too tight? Maybe.

Because theres 300 chips in the pot and hero has 1230 chips behind. We dominate most of his holdings, and have odds to flip on the rest (except AA,KK), thats on top of FE by pushing in the first place which if he folds nets us 25% of our stack.
