3/6: I'm such a station sometimes

Did I play OK or am I being results oriented?

Villain was so far only playing solid postflop (seemingly) and very tight preflop. He was raising 25% on the button and 3betting 20%. I was raising 60% on the button and 3betting 15% (not much because he played tight on the button). I had cbet $85 every time in 3bet pots in this game. I tried to make a blocking bet on the turn (planning to b/f), but his small raise gave me too good odds to fold.

About 5 minutes before this hand I bluffed him very badly by raising his $99 cbet to $300 with virtual air (QdJs) on AcKcJc flop (threebet pot) and showed my bluff. He still didn't show any signs of tilting before this hand.

Nothing to brag about in this hand at least. Had to make very tough deciscions and wanted to hear some opinions. I did think the river call was fairly easy although I thought I'm more often behind than not. Just too good odds to fold and his play didn't really make sense. I don't get why people play like this.

How would you have played the turn?

Against a solid opp I think b/f is probably the standard play. I don't like c/c here with three spades on the board even though he will certainly bet if he has garbage. Pretty marginal spot to be in.

I guess c/r all in on the turn is also acceptable in a reraised pot if the game is very aggro...

i could take any line from b/c to c/f here against different opp.

i think ur line is fine overall actually, though you leave sooo little money left on turn it seems weird u didnt shove but i understand ur reasoning.

Thanks for your comments sauce. One of those hands where I wish they had the time bank feature at ongame.

Villain is clearly trying to represent a hand that is better than what I'm holding and because of that I think calling is better (I still have over half a buy in left). Lets check this case by case depending on what villain is holding (if we call, then we will c/c river):

1. Villain is on a stone bluff.
- Calling is clearly best. We let him bluff the river as well.

2. Villain has a flush
- Calling is better because a fourth spade or paired board can save our last chips (if villain has a low flush he won't always bet the turn).

3. Villain has a single spade.
- Shoving denies his odds (he would be offered around 3:1, not quite enough to call), but calling lets him bluff the river if he misses.

4. Villain has a better made hand.
- Calling is better because he will never fold a better hand to a shove and a fourth spade might save us from putting in our last money.

5. Villain has a worse made hand.
- If villain has AJ/AT for instance, then shoving is better. This is probably his least likely holding though, because he is representing a much stronger hand.

P4s- great analysis as usual. i think you may have identified a leak in my game (specially hu). occasionally i think i give my opp too much credit and allow them play more perfectly when shoving in these spots where i think i have the best hand. another passive benefit is this river call which we all agree is good/solid. nh, and i definitely think this thread deserves more discussion
