    Default Problem with moving up

I'm playing the $5 level now because I built my bankroll to $300 to play $10 level and I lost one and returned back.. Needless to say I'm going by the 30 buy-ins rule, is it the correct way to move up or should I build it up to like 350 with $5 level and then start playing @ the $10 level?

It's up to you. I would play a few more and if you drop to like $250, then move back down.

I really need more help with this because FAQ wasn't clear to me..

Let's say I built it up to 300 and I wanna go with the 30 buy-ins rule to play in $10 STT's.. I lost the first one, what's next? Do I move down so quickly to $5 dollars or play till I drop down to $150 dollars which is 30 buy-ins for $5 dollars or anything else you suggest?.. I think this is really important because if I keep having bad starts to 10$ stt's all the time, I believe I will never go up and always stay at the $5 dollars..I believe I need time with the new buy-in so what is the reasonable move here??

Play the $5s for now, everytime you win one, play a $10 and keep playing them until you don't place then move to the $5s again REPEAT

Do this until you are comfortable with and have a good amount of $ for the $10s ($350)?

    Finding my game
I don't know what's best for you but this is what I do:

    - Requirement for moving up 45 buy-ins (considering raising it a bit more). The bigger your BR is compared to the BI's, the less you'll notice losing a couple, just a mental thing more than actually worrying about busting.
    - If I'm on a downswing I usually just try to play through it, but if it's getting out of hand I drop a level and play until I win 1 game, after that I'm granted 1 game in the regular BI. If I'm ITM I get another chance, if I finish oom I drop back down until I win again. (This works pretty well also for moving up levels.)

I just had the worst downswing I've ever had, lost about 35% of my BR in a week. I dropped down no less than 3 levels, and didn't move up until I had won 1 game on each.
Our brains have just one scale, and we resize our experiences to fit.

CoccoBill, you said your requirement for moving up is 45 buy-ins. Mine is 30 I can make it 50 it doesn't matter the problem is I don't understand what that means..

let's say your bankroll requirement is 30 buy-ins

    a) your bankroll is 280 and you are playing $5 STTs.. You won one and now it's 300.. You start to play $10 sngs, you lose your first one so now it's 289..you go back to playing $5 till it reaches 300..

    b) same above.. reached $300.. but this time you play $10 until you drop down to 150 which is 30 buy-ins for $5..

Which of these is the real meaning of 30 buy-ins? If it's something else please tell me..

    thanks a lot..

It doesn't really matter, these are just a guideline, just play where you think you are a winning player and comfortable.

Don't be such a BR nit!

Treat it more like a rough guideline than a hard limit .

I like the free-roll idea. Win a $5, play $10's till you lose. You're playing with your winnings. Soon you'll be just staying at the $10 level.
Just dipping my toes back in.
