Tight is right= short stack

Default Tight is right= short stack

It seems like every time I play "solid" ABC poker, I end up short stacked and in push/fold mode 5-handed or on the bubble. I definitely start to loosen up as when I can, it doesn't get me enough chips to play an effective bubble. My reads make me want to step outside of "tight is right" but I tell myself "no, that's not good poker" and soon after I bubble on a bad beat or something. I wouldn't say that I'm frustrated () but I am confused.

Is this how tight is right is supposed to work? Or is this bad luck/variance?

Are you playing turbos or regular? It seems to me like ABC poker works better in the regular games, gives you more time to get something to play before blinds get too big.

How many tournaments have you played? That makes a difference also. You need a huge sample size to start to feel comfortable with what variance is, at least that's what's starting to happen for me. I have played over 1000 tourneys and I'm able to handle the variance mentally a little better than earlier on, because sooner or later the playable hands and situations come around.

    Get aggr0.

Steal a couple of blinds and you'll be a lot more comfortable.

How much would you guys say the blinds have to be to make them "worth stealing"?

    Agression:
Most anytime I'm entering a pot, I'm raising... and I'm learning how to be aggressive with any two cards and when to instafold depending the opponent and the board. I think this desire for experimentation is 'killing' my SNG game... but I'm getting ITM more than ever.

Is there a time in the game when it is ok for me to flip that aggression switch on before I'm gobbled alive by the blinds and opponents... what ever happened to mixing it up in SNG play? Not allowed at the lower stakes?

My sample is really small, only about 300 games...

Im_new, I suggest you pick a tourney, run it through the trimmer and post it. I don't think I've seen you post a full tourney previously. Often it is the hands that you aren't posting that you might learn the most from.

I start looking at stealing blinds at BB = 50, and start stealing at almost every opp by the time they're 100-150.

Then again, there have been games when I've literally folded myself to an M of 3 then lost a cointoss the first hand I play. It happens sometimes.

On the left hand side under poker tools, theres a tournament trimmer option. Click it.

Alright, I definitely do that. I'm about to go play a tourney, trim it and post it. It's kind of intimidating, but I'm sure its well worth it. I guess you see a new post from me in an hour or so...
