    Default Review MTT win

I think i played OK, some mistakes and stuff, as i was really tired. I had a lot of trouble with that 99 hand with about 14 left, where i raised and got min reraised. Luck was on my side in this, but i dont think i played too terribly (other than those call downs with 77 with 3 left, i KNOW that was absolutely terrible). Also not sure about the 98 hand, 1st hand of HU.

    Heres the link:

This is really obvious to make this re-raise for more than half your stack after you'd just been going all-in over the top of a bunch of raises three or four times already in that tournament. A lot of pretty good players play in that tournament who are capable of picking up on when the size of your raise gives your hand away. Don't you want to double up with your aces?

I'll look over it some more later.

I dunno whose hand this is but Hero should just call preflop here. The reraise with these stack sizes and knowing that you will be heads up is a bad play. You need to double up with your AA there and not worry at all about getting bad beat. Calling preflop gives us a pot of over 6k. Depending how the hand plays out, you will get it all-in either on the flop or turn a vast majority of the time.

That was from my HH sir. After looking at it again, i agree that this reraise was probably not very good. But also, with the stack sizes as they are, i dont think an all in would be very great either. I agree calling here is good. Then check raise all in the flop. But, i think i should have made it ~5500 here because that gives him odds to call with a decent hand that he would not call a push with. Im not too sure tho. Interesting spot i think.

I really think with stack sizes as they are and given that this guy made a pot size bet preflop, the call is the best move.

This is kind of six months ago advice IMO. These days everyone tries to get tricky with their big hands pre-flop to the point where if they cold call with certain stack sizes then they have a big pair 100% of the time.

This guy is probably an idiot since he raised 4.5x so he won't put you on a big pair if you call, but then again idiots almost never fold pre-flop after they make such a huge raise. Just go all-in.

Sorry, but I think you are just flat out wrong.

This hand is going to be heads-up no matter what. Hero has a chip stack where he can call and still not be committed, but raising does commit himself. Hero needs to do everything in his power to have all his chips called in this situation - making any sort of raise preflop is not the most assured way of doing that. Just call and the hand plays itself out 80-90% of the time. Raising preflop here is going to get that unwanted fold much more than that 10-20% of the time.

In my experience, bad players who make huge pre-flop raises fold to a re-raise 15% of the time or less. Could be because I play on Stars with no bet pot button, I don't know. Either way you're getting all-in here almost all of the time.

I guess I might be projecting what I would do in villain's shoes a little bit, which would be to c/f unless the flop clobbered me, but I really don't think I'm some kind of great player who's the only one capable of noticing when people give their hand away.

also if he has a big ace and checks behind or folds to a check-raise on the flop that's a huge disaster for you

Ok, a big part is that you don't play on tilt then.

You're gonna get a fold well over 25% of the time here preflop (which should be kept in mind for the later stages of tourneys for restealing).

The whole reason that calling preflop here is the way to go is that it juices the pot and will make villain want to go after it even if he has nothing. However, when you raise preflop it makes the villain stop short... essentially you are telling him to stop being so aggressive, which is exactly what you don't want to do here.

If villain has a big hand, this hand will play itself out no matter what you do preflop. If villain doesn't have a big hand, the best way to get all of his chips is simply to call preflop.

How is it a bigger disaster than having him fold preflop?

OK I looked at the first few blind levels.

I guess it's OK to open-limp small pairs from early position if you're really deep, but if it's folded to you MP2 or later you really need to raise anything you're playing. Think about why you're limping and you'll realize that it just doesn't make any sense when the people behind you probably have garbage hands.

I just open-fold Hand 3 but limping is OK; Hand 5 you need to raise; Hand 8 you definitely need to open-fold and your small raise on the turn also needs to be bigger, like at least 1200.

Hand 7 is a good fold probably, but keep in mind that your flop bet is crap against good players if you're planning on folding to a raise. Betting and calling a raise can be OK against good, aggro players.

Hand 9 - Your pre-flop limp isn't profitable if you're going to play like this after the flop, check-folding unless you make a pair.

Hand 10 - Hot. I check behind if the river isn't a jack though.

Hand 15 - This is OK but I like to raise to 900 or 1000 and put the rest in on any flop. You'd be surprised how often horrible players call pre-flop and fold flop, it's a great way to pick up chips.

Hand 19 - Don't be a jerk in the chat.

Hand 25 - NH I guess, good thing villain has no hand reading skills.
