    thoughts?

reads on villian: he seems to be fishy he came to table being like top 5 in chip count... everytime ive played a hand hes played in the hand with me, (this is the 3rd hand ive played since being at this table) one time i raise from EP he calls, i hit TPTK on flop, I bet he calls, turn cards comes, I bet he minraises, i push, he folds... hes playing like a 32/7/2

The only reason to check the turn is if you're going to fold or to induce a bluff. Seems like you did the latter. I'm guessing since it is posted here, he had some weird hand like TK.

shove the turn for value, unless you have a read that he's a spewtard

yeah I'm confused by turn check. If it had come lower than the J I could see checking hoping he would commit with a PP or worse pair, here it just seems weird, he can't even really be on a draw and bluff with it.

Are you asking whether you should check so he'll bet or check so you can fold?

What's the value in having your opp fold if you have the best hand?

I really like the check if he thinks he is ahead.

Not sure why you think "shoving for value" means I want him to fold. I want him to call. I think I have the best hand and I think shoving is the best way to take the rest of his money.

    Why?

I am interested to hear your train of thought.

I can understand shoving for value on the river, but I think a shove on the turn more often means "please fold" than it means "please call."

Exactly, that's why we out-level him by shoving the turn. Shove turn looks like a bluff, check turn shove river looks like we have exactly what we do have (or QQ) so I think a turn shove gets called more often.

I don't understand check-calling. It makes no sense to expect him to bet the turn because the only hands in his range that would want to bet are KJ and a slow-played set. Like I said if he's a real dumb-ass then of course you check-call but your average break-even or slightly losing player is never gonna bet the turn for you so you have to do it for him.

Like drmcboy said check the turn is much more defensible on a 3 turn because then you can expect most players to commit their stack with any pair.

    Interesting...

I actually think the opposite. I think most players (realizing that online players are now uber-aggressive) will attack that turn check, especially if they are floating the flop in position.
