Default Another arse (ass) end straight hand ($27)

Opp is a bad player, 40/14/1.6 over 60 hands. What's your river line? How often is this Kx or AK or a flush vs. a set vs. shit like AJ/AQ?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    Hero (t2930)
    UTG (t2285)
    MP (t3720)
    CO (t1270)
    Button (t1095)
    SB (t2200)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6, 8.
2 folds, CO calls t100, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

    Flop: (t300) 9, J, T (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks.

    Turn: (t300) Q (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO bets t100, SB folds, Hero calls t100.

    River: (t500) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets t300, Hero ????

Everybody checked the flop, and there is a decent chance you can pick up the pot here, and if you get a call you can check/call or check/fold river.
If you get raised you fold

What's the point of trying to pick up the pot when your hand has such obvious showdown value? All you succeed in doing is losing more when you're behind.

With a possible FD and the sucker end of the str8 I would be very happy to pick this hand at the turn
There are too many potential cards that you dont want to see on the river - Any heart, K or 8 are very bad for you, and if a card pairs the board I am not that thrilled either

I don't think there's any reason to give credit for a set or backdoor flush draw... I don't want to see a 8 or K on the river, but if either player has a K these are money saving cards anyway so don't even think we care that much about protecting our hand.

We have a pretty rubbish hand and I really don't want to go building a pot with it. Having bet 200 on the turn, how big a river bet are you willing to call (pot 700)?

Uh? Somebody back me up please, but this seems deeply terrible. The only thing you beat is...

    a) A missed flush draw (assuming no heart hit on the river)
    b) A total bluff which this NEVER is if opp has called turn.
    c) Some donk value (?) betting his set (very rare since no flop/ turn bet)

This is especially bad if opp is in position because he could just take the free showdown with sets etc.

I just hate building a pot with this hand. We have a hand with showdown value that isn't worried about many river cards, on a board that isn't going to let us get any value. I cannot understand betting the turn unless you have a read that opp is horrific post-flop (I know opp is a calling station pre, but that isn't enough to think that betting the turn gets value imo.)
