    Default Standard RR pot spot

    200NL with $200 stax.
2 folds, aggro TAG 25/21 makes it $7 in the CO, button folds and I repop to $28 in the SB with AJ. BB folds, TAG calls.

    Flop ($56): AT8r

    Line 1) We bet $35,
Line 2) We check, villain bets $30, we call.

Which line do you like best and why?

I think in re-raised pots, you should always check when you hit the flop and always bet when you miss the flop. It's the most +EV line and definitely not exploitable at all.

Actually, I would check if I think that would cause him to bluff too much. Otherwise I'd just bet.

Against most opps I like c/c. You almost never get value from a bet or fold a better hand. Against certain spewy regulars who know I 3bet them light out of the blinds I like a bet for value.

I'm just going to answer this question by telling you the factors i would consider.

    1. How aggressive opp is post flop, if someone is cbetting this flop everytime with air after u check than it definetely makes me lean towards a check.
    2. Which line is going to allow me to make the clearest decisions. One thing I doubt many consider is by checking it makes turn and river an easy bet/bet if he checks behind the flop, while when we bet it makes us unsure what the proper turn and river line is.
    3. Which line balances our weak hands better.

OK good points by everyone and I agree and I check here loads and understand why.

    Flop:
Hero check, villain bets $30, hero calls.

    Turn ($116): AT8[T] completes rainbow
    Hero's action?

If you check, what do you to facing a bet of $70?
If you bet, I take it you are calling a shove?

The turn card wasnt too bad, i'd venture to say it was pretty harmless.

That being said if he bets again i think we're beat and i fold. In a more aggressive game or a more aggressive player I don't fold.

I agree that checking when you hit and betting when you miss is probably the +EV for that particular hand, but I think its exploitable in the sense that if its a reg, they will soon figure this out and start pushing all A high flops when you DO bet.

Also, on a board like AT where he's likely to have hit some piece with a T or KQ or something, I'd be more likely to bet than a board Axx two rags no draws.

    I usually check/fold. With some history (he's aggro/spewy, I've been playing nitty) I might c/c and c/c river.
