    Default is this retarded?

    I'm 20/17, this is my first 3-bet. original raiser is 24/22. villain is 34/9, he seemed like a thinking player from previous table chat. i dont think i've seen a turn at the table yet.

    HH messed up, he timed out to like 5 seconds and called with AK, after bitching for an hour about me having AA or KK

    it's marginal. it'd be better if his range was easier to narrow down.
    a 34/9 can have lots of Axs, Kxs, QJ, possibly any pair on the flop, and it's hard to know how to weight that to decide whether to bet at the ace or not.
    checking to get a free card isnt that bad either, betting 1/2 pot or maybe all in on any river if he checks back.

    I'm confused. If he called with AK he would've won with a pair of kings vs. your Jack high

    he did win, im pretty sure the converter fucked up because his name had (NL) in it. his name was like Dr Dumbass (NL). i had to edit a lot of the HH cuz it just said his name was (NL), and it said i didnt bet the flop, i didnt shove the turn, and i won the showdown, when all of the above were opposite.
    lets just forget the results :O i shoved the turn.

    when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

    i'm trying to get better at math stuff, so i'll give the ev of this a shot.

    assumptions:
    if called, 20% equity.
    x=% of times villain folds
    1-x = % of times villain calls
    current pot = $33
    bet = $34
    final pot = 33 + 34 * 2 = $101

    so ev =
    $33 * x - [$34 * (1-x) * .8] + $101 * (1-x) * .2
    =33x - [27.2 - 27.2x] + 20.2 - 20.2x
    =40x - 14
    set that to 0 and solve for x...
    x = 35%

    so this says villain needs to fold 35% of his range for +ev on this hand. can anybody tell me if that math is right?

    sounds about right to me

    not sure how it looks though

    I'm quite meh as to whether opps fold enough to squeezes at 50NL, postflop is standard though.
